I wasn't super excited about a Guitar Special Edition but it turned out that there is loads of fascinating stuff in here. I enjoyed learning about John Russell, was surprised to learn stuff about Hendrix that I didnt already know, and whilst I couldn't be persuaded to care about Randy California and Spirit, NoC's enthusiasm and knowledge of the subject was charming! Chris Whitehead's notes on Guitar Drag also introduced me to that terrifying and depressing piece of art. Simon Hickinbotham's piece on 20th Century Guitarists made me interested in a load of people who I knew about but wasn't interested about before. On the downside Greg Nieuwsma implies that Tinariawen came to prominance in 2010, which came as a surprise to me because I saw them at Glastonbury in the mid-00s. An interview with Charlotte Law breaks up the sausage fest a bit and is probably the most interesting artist in the zine, I'd definitely go see her work. Ash Cooke and detuning is also way more interesting than I expected, not being a musician. Another fine zine from the TQ team. ( ) aucune critique | ajouter une critique
