She has a scholarship to join an archaeological dig in New Mexico with the esteemed Dr. Yates and begin to move on with her life. However, she does not get off to a great start. Being a woman on an archaeology team in 1952 is hard enough, but Dr. Yates seems to have it out for her. On her first day, Ruby falls into a sinkhole and lands on top of several bodies. However, these bones don't look like the Anasazi burial grounds that the team is searching for, these bodies have only been deceased a few years. Ruby's dig partner, Pete, doesn't want her to report the bodies. He believes that the bodies are connected to a group that his brother was involved in. As things intensify, Ruby feels the need to involve the authorities, which only makes things worse for her. Bones of the Redeemed is an intriguing historical mystery. Ruby Delgado was a fierce, passionate and independent protagonist. I was very interested in her backstory as well as how she was able to break into the archaeological field at the time. The dig site and its history felt important to me and I wish that it had been explored more. The action in the story begins right away and the mystery of the bodies as well as why everyone seems content to keep them a secret pulled me in. From there, the writing kept me on the edge of my seat with a wild ride into small town secrets, religious cults and continuous danger. I would have loved to get to know Pete, Dr. Yates and well as some of the other characters a little better to understand their motivations and how they all fit into the small town drama. The ending kept up the frantic pace of the story as everything came together for an action-packed conclusion. This book was received for free in return for an honest review. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

But when her trail crosses the path of a beaten man left for dead in the desert, she realizes she may be the only person who can save the community. Can Ruby stop the sacrifices and slay her inner demons, or will hers be the next body laid to rest?Bones of the Redeemed is a hair-raising standalone Southwestern mystery. If you like complex heroines, cult conflict, and hard-won redemption, then you'll love Kari Bovee's grisly tale. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
