A little aggravating in spots with the main character, but reasonable given the length. ( ) Unlike most supernatural cozy mysteries, this was a unique heroine solving a mysterious death in Salem. She‘s a supernatural skeptic, a scientist, whose been tapped to cohost a podcast about haunted places. Her research into the death feels appropriate and smart, especially when she‘s the no 1 suspect. Highly recommended. After quitting her job and going through a break up (the typical setup for a Fiona Grace Series), Mia Bold receives an offer to co-host a podcast in Salem. She is a scientist and enjoys debunking supernatural myths and is paired up with a "believer" in all things ghostly. While many aspects of the story were similar to Fiona Grace's other series (including an absentee father with attached mystery and an instant crush on one of the town's restauranteurs), I liked that this book revolved around science, spiritism, and podcasting rather than food (I know that Lacey Doyle ran an antique shop, but with her baker boyfriend, it still felt very "foody"). It was also a refreshing change to see the lead character (also the initial lead murder suspect) make friends with the local police. In fact, it was the cast of characters surrounding Mia that made this book so fun and unexpected. I liked the Lacey Doyle series and am always hopeful that the authors I enjoy will write new stories that outshine their past work. This series might be able to do just that and I look forward to reading what happens next. I received a free ARC from BookSprout and have reviewed it willingly. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
