It's gruesome but also a big part of our reality with human trafficking. This has to be one of the basest and cruelest forms. But Marlee and Cooper are lockjawed on discovering these beastly traffickers and they don't stop till they do. It is the worst when it happens to someone you know and even worse when someone you know is involved. Advance review copy provided by #NetGalley for voluntary Review consideration Ah, first off a warning. If you are expecting a lovely little story about boy meets girl and their road to happiness....this isn't it. We do have a love story. Marlee and Cooper. It's what puts them in each other's paths and what is going on around them that may hurt your heart. You will find yourselves following Marlee and Cooper as they investigate a possible illegal adoption ring. Once Marlee discovers that the baby who brought her to Clearview, TX is not the one she is looking for she confesses to Cooper and the new adoptive parents just what it is she's doing in their little town. Once Cooper's friends and family hear the whole story they are more than ready to help Marlee find these baby brokers. Stop the violence and see if they can't find a baby or two and return them to their families. There are aspects of the book that seem a little far fetched but then again this isn't a typical romance novel subject. For me it was a hard read. I don't like the thought of babies being kidnapped and "sold" to new parents. I know the good guys were trying to bring down the bad but it's still a very touchy subject for me. There is the courtship of Marlee and Cooper, a wedding and other loving couples to surround you in feel goods. Marlee Frampton is a former police officer who became a P.I. after her sister was murdered and her unborn child taken. She has spent the last ten years trying to find her sister's murderer and unborn child while helping find other missing children. Cooper Owens was trained as a Combat Controller in the Airforce. He spent years in the rodeo circuit calf roping along side his friends Since he left the Airforce he has spent most of his time helping out his friends, unable to settle down doing any one thing. When a pretty stranger comes to town Cooper wants to get to know her but their first dinner goes south as she asks him if his friend could be involved with buying a baby. Their relationship starts off rocky, but these two's attraction and appreciation for each other is a slow simmer that cannot be denied. Cooper, Marlee and Cooper's friends work together to try to find the group of people killing pregnant women and cutting their babies from them to sell. A sweet, simmering romance to go with a crime thriller. While this book is set in Texas I didn't feel like the title matched the book. Enjoyable book, however some of the transitions were difficult to follow. There were multiple points of view toward the end of the book, that changed rapidly, but there was little, to no demarcation signaling the change. I'd often have to re-read a section because I realized the viewpoint had changed again after only a paragraph of another viewpoint. I received a free copy of this book and I'm voluntarily leaving a review. If you like my reviews I hope you will follow my blog. https://wyldheartreads.wordpress.com/ I am voluntarily posting an hones review after reading an advance copy of this story. Looking For A Cowboy is book #5 in the Heart Of Texas seires. I'm sorry to say that this story didn't resonate with me. I found the inner dialog to be too long and too much. The main female character was, to me, unlikable. The main male was ok but their relationship just didn't work for me. This was such a shame as the subject matter was interesting and realistic. #DonnaGrant #LookingForACowboy #Netgalley #StMartin'sPress #HeartOfTexas aucune critique | ajouter une critique

This wasn’t for me.
I love Donna Grant and her paranormal/supernatural romances but this contemporary/romantic suspense piece, which is the first I have read from this author, wasn’t doing much for me.
That spark that typically pulls me to her novels was missing, the characters were dull, the murdering mothers and kidnapping infants subplot wasn’t intriguing enough, and overall I was bored. Really really bored.
‘A Cowboy Like You’ was an unexpected and unfortunate drop, and just to be safe, I think I'll stick with her PRs for right now.
