Overall, I enjoyed this book. What it lacked in character development, it made up for in fun, English manor-ish, antique-hunting greatness. I'd love to see a less dumbed-down version of this with much more expansion in characters and historical information. This one is headed for my pc as I think it will be a fast reread in the future. This was a really fun mystery. Set in a small village in England, our story revolves around a crumbling mansion that holds a bunch of secrets. Brian Blackstone, the unwitting owner, starts to uncover them. The story is light and sweet. There is a touch of theology. It's not heavy-handed, just right. The perfect book to while away the hours. This book definitely had its good moments. If you enjoy romance mixed with a little bit of adventure and a looming "cliff," I believe you'll enjoy this offering from Davis Bunn. ( )

Gripping from the beginning, this was a very nice Christian fiction book. It was not in the least heavy handed, as Christian fiction so very often is, but was more concerned with the story telling than the proselytizing.

I found many spiritual truths in the book, and the characters were real and flawed. I am looking forward to reading my next Davis Bunn book.

A good book, though the Christian message was a little much for my personal tastes. The search for the historical artifacts was fascinating, however. And seeing Brian work through his grief was incredibly inspiring. ( )
