I really enjoyed Flint's take on the Celtic deities, writing about them as if they were characters in a legendary story. While this mainly concerns Lugh, many of the other beings from this mythology make an appearance. A fun and enjoyable novel. ( ) Historical or alternate history fantasy, probably suitable for early teens and up. A retelling of the eviction of the Fomorians from Ireland by the Tuatha Dé Danann under Lug, where the Fomorians are depicted as survivors of a (hinted) nuclear catastrophe, their population a mix of somewhat healthy inhabitants of a decaying hi-tech island arcology, and deformed mutants used as out-and-about thugs enforcing their rule and bolstering the indigenous sellout king. OK, not great. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
Appartient à la sérieThe Sidhe Legends (Book 1)
Out of the mists the Fomor came to enslave the isle of Eire, a dread race of twisted men ruled by an inhuman lord: Balor of the Evil Eye. But a champion came from out of the sea, a youth called Lugh, seeking his destiny, sent to Eire by the seagod Manannan MacLir to fulfill an ancient prophecy. With Gilla, a jesting rogue, and Aine, a spirited warrior-woman he came to love, Lugh challenged the Fomor to restore the True King to the throne of Tara, and summoned the Silver Warriors of the Sidhe to fight in the realms of men.The tale of Lugh of the Long Arm is among the greatest of all Celtic myths. Now this mighty legend comes blazing to life in a new retelling filled with all the fire and magic of the ancient bards. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
