It is an extensive and comprehensive general reference cookbook which is still being reprinted and updated to this day. It is famous for a more rigorous approach to writing recipes than had been common up to that point, and is still a useful cooking resource for modern readers. This was in my family from 1946. Passed on every generation since. Invaluable, even if many preparation details are out of date. ( )

Basic but thorough. makes a great going off to college gift. My son requested a copy so he could learn to make french toast. ( )

Someday I'll perhaps cook something from this book. It belonged to my grandmother and is inscribed with her name and the date - Dec 1928. I'm not really sure what this book was doing during the past 40 years - my aunt gave it to me a couple of years ago and my grandmother died in the early 1970's. ( )
