"A Garden in Your Belly's colorful world helped me wake up...This book is as powerful as it is beautiful!" â??Eric Carle, author of The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Your belly is full of tiny creaturesâ??and they love to eat! Along the river of your gut, tiny creatures move, eat, and grow. Learn more about the garden of microscopic flora growing inside the body and come on a journey that explains an important biological concept: the microbiome, the health of which affects everything in our bodies. Did you know that some foods are better for your microbiome (and you!) than others? Striking, original watercolor illustrations keep things from getting too gross. Informational back matter goes further into the science of the microbiome and reveals amazing facts about the gut… (plus d'informations)

Whoever thought that a book about the microorganisms living in your body could be so adorable! A Garden in Your Belly was such a fun and educational read; I even learned a few things while reading this book. Children, as well as adults, will have so much fun laughing and reading A Garden in Your Belly! ( )

SOOO pretty, and it explains the concept of gut microbes in a way that is easy to understand, and devoid of toilet humor.

Oh as a person who has her own gut issues sometimes, I quite enjoyed a book with flowery illustrations and the intestines being likened to a river. It's a great introductory to our body's microbiomes, proper nutrition, and how our gut can impact a lot of full body health! ( )

Note: I received a digital review copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.

Masha D'Yans approaches her subject with a sense of wonder and appreciation, describing the intestines as "a river..nourish[ing] a garden in your belly full of life and wonder called the microbiome." Beautiful watercolors make the subject even more approachable as readers learn about microorganisms and microbes, good and bad. Communication goes two ways, and we can send "care packages" down the river by taking care of our bodies (the "good guys" in your garden like fruit, yogurt, nuts, and veggies; the "bad guys" like sweets and junk food).

Back matter includes "What is the microbiome?," a glossary, and "amazing gut facts" ( )
