This was a very charming book, good for kids or good for a person like me who is trying to keep up with their French! Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. I received this book as an early reviewer. It turns out that this is actually a series of books by author Danielle Michaud Aubrey. I have been learning French while in lockdown status during the pandemic, and I felt ready to branch out into children's books. These stories are indeed "...imaginative stories of day-to-day adventures with human and animal characters... providing a vehicle for learning about community, compassion and collaboration." Each about 2,000 words, easy to digest. I set up the ebook on one screen and worked through my translation app on the other. The stories are sweet, simple representations of rural life. The illustrations are a throwback to old Dick and Jane style art. This is ideal for younger children until age 8 or so. Khalil's Dream and Other Stories:Stories for Boys and Girls by Danielle Michaud Aubrey 📖-- 3 ⭐⭐⭐ -- My review: I though this book was so cute, it has 10 stories with really cute illustrations. It's based on adventures with humans and animals characters, that teaches life lessons, such as communication, compassion, collaboration and education. If you have a kiddo, this one is great for every little girl or little boy. PS yes I did read this one in French... I'm proud of myself. Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. This book contains a variety of short stories for children. Some of them focus on animal friends, and others feature humans as the main characters. A specific moral or values lesson underlies each story. These values include community, respect, teamwork, kindness, diversity, and other qualities desirable for a citizen who makes a positive contribution to society. The stories are enjoyable and fun to read, with matching colorful illustrations that show key points of the story. This book would best be enjoyed by parents or guardians along with their children. The stories lend themselves to discussion of the moral values and positive qualities demonstrated in them. I received this book from LT Early Reviewers in .pdf format. The opinions expressed here are entirely my own. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Even as an adult it is nice to immerse yourself in the fantasy world with talking animals. The simple, cozy, friendly world of Mizzy the mouse, Red the fox, mademoiselle Henriëtte, the chicken, the friendly farmer and his wife and other innocent humans.
A pretty nice way for an English-speaking, Dutch-speaking youngster to get acquainted with the beautiful language of Molière in a carefree way. Or for their parents to dive back into school.
The illustrations are old-fashioned but sweet. ( )
