As the third daughter of a third daughter, dragon-shifter Christine Drachen must mate with a human. Not all human males can successfully mate with dragon-shifters, and suitable matches are uncommon. Christine, though, has identified James to be a potential mate. Since even humans who accept the existence of dragons would be terrified of one who can shift to human form, Christine must not fully reveal her true nature until James has fallen in love and has fully committed to mate. James gradually discovers who Christine is. Her last name, Drachen, means "dragon," and he admires the golden dragon that hangs from a chain around her neck. Prints, statues, and tapestries of dragons decorate her family's home. Strange noises emanate from behind the Drachens' house, and James believes he actually sees a dragon, one wearing a necklace like Christine's. Christine laughs as she tells him her entire family are dragons, but James suspects her words are more than a simple joke. Finally, he sees her shift. To protect the species from persecution, a dragon-shifter must silence any human who sees a shift. The rule is absolute, and the most practical method is generally death. But Christine has fallen in love with James. How can she protect her family without killing the boy she loves? If you enjoy stories of "boy-meets-girl," with high stakes, danger, a little humor, and an abundance of romance, then you'll love Dragon Mist. One-click it today!… (plus d'informations)

I enjoyed this book quite a bit, although I would classify it as fantasy, not paranormal. Now that we've got that out of the way, lets get down to the important stuff. Set against the backdrop of the summer of love, Christine is faced with a choice the children of the powerful have been faced with throughout time - to marry (or in this case mate) for love or power. Christine was a wonderful, strong female lead, James warmed my heart as much as Richard made my skin crawl. A great read for anyone looking to escape into a world where dragons are real, and choices can have very deadly consequences. ( )

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Dragon Mist, David Burnett always makes it easy for the reader to connect and warm quickly to the characters in his stories. I also loved learning about the Drache's (dragons), their history and cultures within the story.

Fate brings two students together and we watch their friendship grow. Christine is a Drache, a mix of human and dragon, who has been designated to mate with a human to keep the DNA in their genes. Although she is currently paired to someone she isn't overly fond of, after meeting James she begins to wonder if things should change. She's a loveable hippie at heart, who sometimes gets the human / dragon moral boundaries mixed up which is quite a surprise for James. James is such a sweet character who starts to fall for Christine's unusual ways, not realising her shapeshifting secret. As they get closer he starts to wonder about Christine and has many unanswered questions which is cause for him to speculate. The problem is once he knows the secret he must become one of them or be silenced for good. Can Christine keep her emotions at bay or risk losing him?

After a unexpected intense start, I realised reading further along why it had happened. Yet there was also a softness to the story, humor, and intrigue. I loved picking this up to continue their fascinating journey, another wonderful and interesting read from the author. ( )

Dragon Mist is a book I would pick up just because I like the cover design, luckily I liked the blurb after I read it too.
Christine is a shapeshifter, but she doesn’t shift into a wolf, like most shifter books, she shifts into a beautiful dragon. I really liked that angle, as the wolf shifter thing is so overdone.
I am not going to say much about the storyline as the blurb gives a lot away, but I will say that I really enjoyed reading Christine’s journey from hippie flower child to an adult and finding the perfect compatible mate.
It was very well written, no boring bits, great plot and quite unique for a paranormal romance.
David Burnett is a new author to me, however, I will be looking out for more of his books in the future. ( )

Christine Drachen took the summer off and secretly spent it in San Francisco as a wild, free-spirited flower child. While there, a situation arose that caused her to show her true dragon form. Luckily, she had used a fake name and background, so she was able to flee back home and leave her summer of love behind. Now, back home in Charleston, she meets James Barringer and hopes to have a future with him. But before she can condition him to accept her dragon lifestyle, her past catches up with her.

This was an exciting and adventurous read. I liked the supernatural aspect of the story as well as the interaction of the characters. This story showed a different style of writing for Mr. Burnett and I’m delighted with that. I thoroughly enjoyed the story. ( )

I received a free copy of this novel from #bvbtours in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Christine Drachen is the youngest of her sisters and burdened with her family's requirement, that she mate with a human and somehow have him fall in love with her. This is quite a fascinating story and history. I thought it was wonderfully written and extremely imaginative. I loved watching the relationship grow and even when she pushed him away, he kept coming back. That is true love at it's best! ( )
