One thing that came through very strongly from the high scoring students was that they all took the subject very seriously and were striving to do well. They all seemed to work through many of the previous exam papers and most of them seemed to look for the something extra....to read beyond the set pieces, to come up with a different angle to the common answer. Some of them seemed to sacrifice their social life but others ensured that they had a routine that included time for sport and parties. They make the point that study time ...sitting in front of a book....does not equate with learning. Mostly they had serious study timetables with a lot of active practice of exam questions. One good suggestion was to make uTube watching part of study by watching things like Khan Academy. Another good tip was that "done" is better than "perfect"....just make a start rather than waiting for the perfect inspiration to come.
All in all a simple book but, I think, quite useful for someone going for HSC. I give it four stars. ( )
