Short book that is a combination of science and art in a rather poetic style. Takes a short and simple look at cosmology, starting with the Big Bang and traveling to our solar system, and beyond to end with the question of 'is there other life out there'? Hits basic ideas about stars & planets, along with the quick version of Big Bang cosmology. ( ) A very short and sweet story that could be read at bedtime every single night: the story of how You got here. Despite its brevity, it conveys a lot: how little we know about how things started; how the universe began tiny and grew immeasurably fast; how galaxies formed in an eyeblink; and how planets accompany stars but most of them are too hot or too cold. Ours is just right. The only tiny comment I have is that when an early page says that the universe inflated by a factor of 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000, I do wish there was a little footnote or something that informed me how to read that number aloud other than by saying "ten thousand" followed by the word "thousand" 13 more times. (Wikipedia tells me that this number is 10 tredecillion.) aucune critique | ajouter une critique

The Big Bang presents the mystery of how the universe began in a way we can all understand. Written by an astrophysicist, the pages describe what we know--and what we don't--in a compelling, accessible way. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
