Walk in Jane Austen's footsteps with this unique travel guide - the first book to explore England in relation to its most beloved Regency author. Rambling across the rolling fields of Hampshire, along the bustling streets of London and around the golden crescents of Bath, Jane Austen's England is the perfect companion for any Janeite planning a pilgrimage. Functionally arranged by region, each chapter tracks down the most iconic scenes from both the big and little screen, as well as the key destinations where Jane lived, danced and wrote. Descriptions of each location are interspersed with biographical anecdotes and local history. Subsections focus on various stately homes that have been featured in every adaptation of every novel, from the beloved Pride and Prejudice television series (1995, Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth) to Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (2016). With a compilation of websites, seasonal opening hours and tour details, this compact book contains everything you need to immerse yourself in Austen. AUTHOR: Karin Quint is a journalist and photographer, based in The Netherlands. Whether through images or the written word, Quint has a passion for capturing the world around her. Quint discovered Austen unwittingly at 20, when she picked up De Gezusters Bennet (The Bennet Sisters) for ten cents at a flea market: the Dutch translation of Pride and Prejudice. She set up JaneAusten.nl in search of fellow enthusiasts, which introduced her to the worldwide Jane Austen community. Quint is an ambassador for the Jane Austen Literacy Foundation. She has co-written two other travel guides about Wales and Scotland. SELLING POINTS: * The first and only travel guide that focuses on Austen's life, work, and legacy * Packed with travel tips, walking routes, tour times and Austen trivia * A great gift for any Austen fan - but will also be appreciated by ramblers, Anglophiles, and anyone with an interest in Regency England 180 colour images… (plus d'informations)

If you want detail, this is the book for you as it is a very detailed listing of location sites for most 1990 onwards screen adaptations, plus places JA herself went to (the former far more numerous than the latter, with of course some of them being one and the same). This riding of two horses is only occasionally confusing. Sometimes it seems more like a guide to bed and breakfasts than JA sites, but at least this makes it useful to keen travellers. The translation from the original Dutch into American English is mosty fine with only occasional infelicities - eg English churches do not have cemeteries, they have graveyards! Some of the detail is perhaps a little overdone - it is unlikely that many people will remember all the short film scenes mentioned, for example, as opposed to the more significat settings. However, it is certianly revealing of how many different places get used to make up what appears to be a single building in some of the films. ( )
