I discovered this author from the Dirty Dawgs MC series. I was sad when I realized that the series was coming to an end even knowing that this series was in the works. Even after reading Mercy, and getting glimpses of some of the old crew, I didn't realize how entwined this series would become with that. The secrets from that series were slowly unraveled from the first book until the end. Or so I thought... Sweet LORD. The twists and turns that this author takes. The pain these characters have to go through before they can finally find peace amongst the chaos is mindboggling but poignantly gratifying. It is for this reason that I adore this author and why any words from her are always on my most anticipated watchlist.
I knew going into this that something was going to be at the root for why Kelsea was acting the way that she did. I was right. I just had NO idea that it was going to go in the direction that it did. My heart. From all the previous dealings that everyone had with her, especially Ryder, I wasn't seeing how this was going to turn into a romance. This was especially true for those of us that had read the first chapter from the end of Mercy's book. However, now after reading this I cannot imagine it going in any other direction than it did because sweet holy titfire... Ryder is delicious and the two of these damaged souls were perfect for each other. Ryder was patient and with just the amount of "Diesel-like" tendencies that was needed. He wasn't an over the top jerk but he was just as crass with the things that he said. This just kept the authenticity of the characters and this lifestyle. He also had his own baggage that came out in the story.
My only complaint with this story was because of Ryder's baggage. After so much attention to getting up to this point, I wanted more resolution with it felt rushed especially so close to the end. That also could just be me pouting a bit because I wasn't ready for this story to be over. It was fantastic seeing the old crew again, especially the ladies of the MC time, and also a few surprises that made me laugh. As I mentioned before, it was also mind-boggling to see how the sins of the father and the secrets are still coming to play in this series.
The sneak peek into Hunter's book has me dying for more words already. (
