I didn't really like the illustrations that much. I found some of them to be a bit confusing and overall did not find them to be very eye grabbing. The plot of the book was a sensitive subject that i do feel many can connect with. Many people loose the ones they love throughout their lives and it is hard to deal with that. This book really touches on that subject. The main message of the book is that when your feeling down or you feel like you have lost something your family will always be there for you to pick you and make you feel better. I liked this book a lot. It really appeals to multiculturalism because on every page the story is written in English and then it is also written in Spanish. Another reason I enjoyed this book is because of the illustrations. They are bright and vibrant and bring a lighter side to the grief the grandma is feeling in the book. For example when the grandma arrives she is wearing bright purple, with bright flowers on it. One page it says they can hear soft sobs coming from grandma's room but the picture is bright and beautiful. The grandma has a sad expression on her face but the picture is happy and bright. It does not make it seem so dark and sad. The main idea in this book is helping others through their grief. The kids get chicks to raise with their grandmother to cheer her up. I thought this was a very sweet book, with a great story to it about cousins and siblings that want to surprise their grandmother. I thought it was cute, and it was great because parts of the book were also written in Spanish. This would be a great book to have in the classroom if you ESL students also. Again, I loved the illustrations, they were so different looking but the colors popped out. http://www.amadairmaperez.com/ aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Amada and her family build a chicken coop, hoping that her grandmother, visiting from Mexico, will enjoy raising the chickens and be distracted from her grief at Grandfather's death. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
