I dropped off reading this series a few books ago, but I did especially like this couple (from their novella Azagoth) so I wanted to read their follow-up. I'm glad I did, though it wasn't enough to make me want to pick up the series again. Besides one entire scene repeated from the first book, and then repeated *again* from an alternate perspective... this book kept my interest throughout. It might be difficult as a stand alone, there's so much world building and storylines about previous characters, but I think it did a pretty good job filling the reader in where it was needed. It's sort of rare to get an entire book revisiting a couple after they've already fallen in love and gotten married, and I liked it. ( ) Shocked! I don't even know how to express how I felt throughout this book. Shock would probably be the most accurate feeling. Everything moved so fast and so many unexpected things happened that my emotions were on overload. Someone in Sheoul-gra is a traitor. I kept wondering who it could be, hoping it would be someone I wasn't really investested in but that too shocked me. This is the last book in this series so expect the unexpected. There is going to be a spin-off about the next generation though so I am excited for that. Azagoth is a fallen angel tasked with managing demon souls in Sheoul-gra until they are reborn. He all about the evil until Liliana came into his life and brought light to his darkness. Liliana and his babe is his world and no one better mess with them. Liliana is an angel, who chose Azagoth and his love and is now pregnant. They are both thrilled that for the first time he will have a child born from love, with no pre-destined fate. Azagoth has enemies and when Liliana and her child come under fire he sends her to the demon hospital to save their child and the subsequent events end up changing everything. Nothing will ever be the same. This one will pull you emotionally in a variety of directions, war is never pretty and there are always casualties. While there are a few, 'that was stupid, they should have known better' moments I loved seeing previous characters involved and I was totally with Azagoth when he went nuclear and that Liliana stayed strong even in her worst moments. Lots of great stuff here and great set up for Larissa's hinted at next series. If you like my reviews I hope you will follow my blog. https://wyldheartreads.wordpress.com/ So the end is nigh or a least the closing curtain on this part of this fantastic saga, ready for future story-arcs to develop and my god this was amped right up to the maximum. This was action-packed edge of your seat momentum all the way. So this was multiples POV's Focusing on many individuals we have come to know and love throughout this roller-coaster of a series. It's the ultimate pinnacle of all we have been working towards and been gradually building up to and things will definitely get worse before they can get better with all players involved being brought to play and placed on the board, each with individual specific jobs in the upcoming crap-storm heading there way. So this story ripped my heart out and made me scream in pure denial. I was gutted and had no clue how this was all going to be resolved with any actual satisfaction to the reader. This also went places I never imagined it would it was fantastically epic from start to finish. All pathways here to seemed to lead to Azagoth and Lilliana with these two being our eye of the storm if you will and Azagoth will go to any lengths necessary even battle heaven and hell itself to protect his mate and unborn child. Azagoth has become one of my most favourite Demomica characters ever with his willingness to punish all that threaten his family with such pure single-mindedness and blinkered devotion. Here we also get to finally realise the identity of the traitor and got to say I was so way off base with who I thought it was to say I'm shocked is an absolute understatement. Jim Bob's identity is also revealed and that one yep it made sense. Finally, I loved where we finally arrived at here, we got our closure wrapping up this point of the story-arc but going forward with future generations there is so much scope and potential with how this could potentially evolve. This is an amazing series that I highly recommend. I voluntary reviewed a copy of Reaper (Demonica Underworld, Demonica, #19). He is the Keeper of Souls. Judge, jury, and executioner. He is death personified. He is the Grim Reaper. A fallen angel who commands the respect of both Heaven and Hell, Azagoth has presided over his own underworld realm for thousands of years. As the overlord of evil souls, he maintains balance crucial to the existence of life on Earth and beyond. But as all the realms gear up for the prophesied End of Days, the ties that bind him to Sheoul-gra have begun to chafe. Now, with his beloved mate and unborn child the target of an ancient enemy, Azagoth will stop at nothing to save them, even if it means breaking blood oaths and shattering age-old alliances. Even if it means destroying himself and setting the world on fire . . . Contains mature themes. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
