"Fierce and unrelenting...Do yourself a favor and get lost in this beautiful book!" ?? Tomi Adeyemi, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Children of Blood and Bone "Narrator Shayna Small delivers a versatile performance in this young adult fantasy filled with mermaids and magic." ?? AudioFile Magazine
Set in a kingdom where danger lurks beneath the sea, mermaids seek vengeance with song, and magic is a choice, Adalyn Grace's All the Stars and Teeth is a thrilling fantasy for fans of Stephanie Garber's Caraval and Sarah J. Maas's Throne of Glass series. She will reign. As princess of the island kingdom Visidia, Amora Montara has spent her entire life training to be High Animancer??the master of souls. The rest of the realm can choose their magic, but for Amora, it's never been a choice. To secure her place as heir to the throne, she must prove her mastery of the monarchy's dangerous soul magic. When her demonstration goes awry, Amora is forced to flee. She strikes a deal with Bastian, a mysterious pirate: he'll help her prove she's fit to rule, if she'll help him reclaim his stolen magic. But sailing the kingdom holds more wonder??and more peril??than Amora anticipated. A destructive new magic is on the rise, and if Amora is to conquer it, she'll need to face legendary monsters, cross paths with vengeful mermaids, and deal with a stow-away she never expected... or risk the fate of Visidia and lose the crown forever. I am the right choice. The only choice. And I will protect my kingdom. An Imprint Book "Vicious and alluring, All the Stars and Teeth is a force to be reckoned with." ??Hafsah Faizal, author of We Hunt the Flame
"Jam-packed with swashbuckling adventure, swoonworthy romance, and dark, lush magic." ??Christine Lynn Herman, author of The De… (plus d'informations)
Started a little slow but really picked up in the middle. Was glad I had the 2nd one ready to go so I could continue. But then the last several chapters happened. Amora got more annoying. The “problem” the characters were solving took a stark turn for being so close to the end. And now I can’t imagine another full book with it all. I’ll give it a try though, but have very low hopes.
I’m also not a fan of the narrator for the audiobook. ( )
A great start to this duology. I love that Adalyn Grace jumps right into the story and builds the world throughout the book. I loved the different types of magic and the lore behind the reason for everyone only being allowed to use one type of magic.
The ending was bittersweet and I am looking forward to reading the conclusion in the second book. ( )
I was not unhappy with this book but also not happy. It had an interesting plot idea, but it felt like it wasn't executed very well. I was incredibly linear and the characters felt like they were getting dragged along by the authors' whim, which sounds weird but the characters just kind of existed in this world and were subjected to things that they had no control over. There's a lot of things that happen all at once in the end and it left me confused about a few things, and not really wanting to read the next book. It's definitely a YA book. It kind of follows a lot of YA cliches, but it's not a bad book either, it's just not a book for me. I think it was missing a lot of things that could have made it much better. ( )
3.5 I liked this book, but didn't really get into it until I was close to 40% through. It will stick with me though and I await the sequel grudgingly... I need to know what happens next. ( )
