Beautiful, richly colored artwork accompanied by a simple, soothing rhyming sequence and a totally adorable and heart-eyes-worthy story!! ( ) This story is about a maiden who is invited to the ball to maybe become the prince's wife. Although, she falls in love with a princess instead and they marry in the end. One thing I liked about the story was how the words rhymed, making it fun to read."So the maiden put on a gown and headed to the hall." "She marveled at all the people who filled the sparkling hall." However, I just didn't have a connection to the story or illustrations. A maiden reluctantly goes to the ball, but she already knows the prince and sees him as a brother, not a romantic partner. However, she falls for his sister, the princess, and both sets of parents approve the match: "They're the perfect pair!" Same author but different illustrator than Prince & Knight; the illustration style here is less like modern animation and more classic fantasy, with bold, saturated colors and thin black lines for detail. The characters have a variety of skin tones, realistic body types, and brightly colored hair.
Galupo and Haack joyfully subvert fairy tale tropes while maintaining romance and enchantment. Est une suite (ne faisant pas partie de la série) deFait l'objet d'une suite (ne faisant pas partie de la série) dansPrix et récompenses
