Funny and amusing I enjoyed the characters, though I questioned the MC’s intelligence more than once. A touch of the absurd makes it more fun. I did question how the author believes a flying creature, such as a dragon, would fly with external, large genitalia. Most aquatic creatures and all birds don’t...dangle. I will purchase the sequel when it is released. Funny and amusing I enjoyed the characters, though I questioned the MC’s intelligence more than once. A touch of the absurd makes it more fun. The magic transformed people into all types of creatures! There are plenty of side stories going on too. This is the story of Charlie as she is right in the middle of this magical mayhem! Great magical fun and disasters! Narration was excellent! Charley is a professional gambler and cleaner living in Manchester, England. She has promised to pay off the gambling debts that a friend owes to a gangster. While she is cleaning the local police precinct, she has an unusual encounter with a woman. Not soon after that, strange things begin happening all over Manchester. Vermin invasion, raining fire, a surge in plant growth and a locust infestation manifest into a war between supernaturals. The government decides to evacuate the city but not everyone goes. Everything in Charley's life has changed, including herself, and she must try to adapt to the new world. Her need to help others sometimes gets her into trouble but luckily she has gathered a group of friends and supernaturals that have become her family and they work together to survive this new world. When I first started reading this, I thought the story line was a little silly. I liked it but it could use a little more fleshing out. The dialogue and the character development could use some polish to make the relationships between the characters a little more believable. I did like the story but I think it could use some more touching up. Thank you to the NetGalley and the publisher for giving me this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Charley is a cleaner by day and a professional gambler by night. She might be haunted by her tragic past but she's never thought of herself as anything or anyone special. Until, that is, things start to go terribly wrong all across the city of Manchester. Between plagues of rats, firestorms, and the gleaming blue eyes of a sexy Scottish werewolf, she might just have landed herself in the middle of a magical apocalypse. She might also be the only person who has the ability to bring order to an utterly chaotic new world. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |

First, the MC is a do-gooder to a fault which I wouldn't mind too if it weren't for the second flaw.
The author bends logic and common sense into origami to accommodate her incredibly naive MC so she can succeed anyway.
