This anthology of the Harley & Ivy Meet Betty & Veronica comics was fantastic! I am a fan of both sides of this comic and loved the interplay between the two worlds. I also enjoyed how each of the lead characters adopted some of the characteristics of their counterpart. The story was female power all the way without it losing the charm of being a classic comic. I would love to read more of these girls' story! That was a fun romp, and I thought that they did a pretty good and believable job bringing the two very different comics together. It mostly takes place in Riverdale with a little bit in Gotham City. Veronica's father is looking to destroy a swamp in Riverdale and put up a 'University'. Well, Ivy sees that and she and Harley go to stop it from happening. But, then there's a sort of Freaky Friday thing that happens and everything goes haywire. I was a little bummed that there wasn't more Harley/Ivy subtext if not maintext, in there, but, as I said, it was a fun short, cute read. I received this book via Netgalley thanks to DC Entertainment. Dini and Andreyko's Harley and Ivy Meet Betty & Veronica brings the gals of Gotham to Riverdale when Poison Ivy learns that Mr Lodge plans to destroy the Sweetwater Marsh and put a fancy strip mall and 'college’ on the land. Sweetwater is home to many rare plants and animals. The pair arrive in time to crash Lodge's halloween gala, going as… themselves. A magical accident switches Ronnie and Betty's consciousness with Ivy and Harley's, leaving each pair to live the life of the other until they can get it reversed. Hilarity ensues as they get the hang of their new lives. Can Ivy get the mall plans scrapped? Can she and Harley get their own bodies back? Can they even survive a day in high school?? I love the Archie comics, having gotten hooked on them by my mother when I was growing up. This was a pretty fun crossover. I really wasn't sure how it was going to work, but it turned out great! The Archie & co in this comic follow the art/world of the more modern Riverdale series. I haven't watched that yet, but reading this gave me a good idea of the personalities of these versions of the characters. Recommended for those that love either of these shows. ***Many thanks to Netgalley and DC Entertainment for providing an egalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
"Gotham City meets Riverdale in this crossover graphic novel that brings together four of the most iconic characters in comics--Harley & Ivy and Betty & Veronica! Riverdale's resident billionaire, Hiram Lodge, has a plan to offer free college tuition. The town just needs to build a new campus by draining the wetlands that lie between Riverdale and Gotham City. Everyone is thrilled...except visiting ecologist Dalia Green, a certain botany-obsessed super-villain in disguise! Poison Ivy realizes she must resort to drastic measures to thwart Hiram Lodge's plan to destroy the wetlands and the many species of endangered plants that live there. Scheming with her daffy bestie Harley Quinn, the villainous pair plan to kidnap Lodge's daughter, Veronica, and her friend Betty. Once Lodge abandons his building plans, Betty and Veronica will be returned safely--but not before mayhem ensues. Are these two teams of BFFs headed for disaster?"-- Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |

Following the comedy style of the New 52 Harley Quinn comics, writers Dini and Andreko find more in common between the worlds of Riverdale and Gotham than one might expect. Similarly, Braga and Melo’s art captures the current look of both the Archie and Harley Quinn comics, blending the two in a way that works unexpectedly well. The premise itself may seem odd, but fans of both will find plenty of great character moments and in-jokes to appreciate in this story. Best of all is seeing Dini return to the character he co-created! ( )
