Backwater Pass by Steven Becker is the fifth installment of the Kurt Hunter series. The Kurt Hunter series is set in Biscayne Bay National Park where he is special agent for the National Park Service. He is responsible for patrolling the waters of the park and investigating criminal activities within the park boundaries.

This book is based on the Florida International University bridge collapse this year. In this novel, the debris from the bridge is quickly deposited in the park waters as an artificial reef. Hunter gets involved after inspecting the bridge debris before dumping and finds something out of kilter with the supposed cause of the bridge collapse. I will stop with the story recap at this point to avoid spoiling the story for you.

This is another good story in the series. It is a quick read and perfect for vacation/beach reading. ( )
