Chargement... #SAD! Doonesbury in the Time of Trumppar Garry Trudeau
![]() Aucun Actuellement, il n'y a pas de discussions au sujet de ce livre. ![]() To be honest, I had already started wording the beginning of the review for this book before even opening it to the first page (which is, of course, silly, stupid, predjudiced,....) I wanted to comment on how sad it was, that so much merchandise appears about the current POTUS, because a lot of the stuff out there, be it books, caps, shirts, ... and in support or potesting against, most of it feels like people wanting to make a quick buck out of the misery. AND THEN I READ THE PREFACE. And I must say, to some extend, the author has a valid point. "Satire... to afflict the comfortable and comfort the afflicted.... Satire rarely changes minds... doesn´t mean [we] should forgo the comfort of laughter": Maybe we do need all this, to numb the pain.... That being said, the cartoons in this collection are witty and clever, and (despite the subject) a fun read. I have been a collector of Doonesbury books going back to the 1970s. If one is looking to go back and research this country's culture, history and politics, one could not find a more entertaining and enlightening resource then Gary Trudeau's comic. Trudeau is a national treasure. I dread the time when he will stop his commentary and satire. This book targets Donald Trump and his presidency. Nobody does it better! aucune critique | ajouter une critique

From the Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist whose acclaimed Yuge!: 30 Years of Doonesbury on Trump blew up the bestseller list, comes the sequel millions prayed would be unnecessary. #SAD!: Doonesbury in the Time of Trump tracks the shocking victory, the inept transition, and the tumultuous eternity of POTUS's First 500 Days. Citizens who rise every morning in dread, braced for disruptive, Randomly Capitalized, atrociously grammarized, horrably speld, toxic tweeting from the Oval Office, can curl up at night with this clarifying collection of hot takes on the First Sociopath, his enablers, and their appalling legacy. Whether resisting or just persisting, readers will find G.B. Trudeau's cartoons are just the thing to ease the pain of remorse ("Could I have done more to prevent this?") and give them a shot at a few hours of unfitful sleep. There are worse things to spend your tax cut on. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
