Zee Mahan had always known the boy she loved would leave one day-Whiskey River was too small to hold the talent and charisma of Jamie Templeton forever. She just didn't realize that when he left, it would break her hometown heart. Jamie had never lied to Zee about his plans, and when he'd left for the bright lights-and made it big-he'd thought she understood. She'd loved him and his music and had encouraged him to chase his dream. Sure, he could have gone home for a visit, but when his band caught fire, he was afraid to interrupt their momentum. When the crazy world he was living in turned on him, Jamie walked away---back to the only place he could think of to go....home. But was it too late to find forgiveness and rekindle the fire with the only woman he'd ever loved?… (plus d'informations)

Burnt-out rock star returns to his small home town, and the girl who first held his heart.
This is a lovely book. The emotions, the baggage, the obstacles are all very real, and yet the whole is infused with the sweetest romance. Jamie and Zee are great characters with a complex relationship and history. Although this is a romance, it delves into a wide range of emotions and issues, from both characters' perspectives.
Mature, romantic, and with some delicious servings of spice.
I received my copy as a LibraryThing giveaway. This has no influence my review. ( )

And we finally get the story of Zee and Jamie - there have been multiple references to it in the other two books. And I discovered, halfway through the book, that Davis has made me read and love a story based on my least favorite romance trope, misunderstandings. Jamie thought Zee knew how he felt; Zee thought Jamie would react the way she did to events, and when he didn't it must have meant that they weren't all that important to him. And yet, for these characters in those situations, it works - it makes sense. Davis is amazing. I am _very_ grateful that I got and read the first book before I read this, though; there's a major echo back that would have confused me at best if I didn't know Deck's story. Lovely, and as usual I ended the book in tears. I hope she's planning to write more. There are other books set in the same town, by two other authors; I'll probably pick them up, but I don't think they can match Justine Davis. ( )

I spent a wonderful Mother's Day reading this great book. I loved the characters and their story. I hadn't read the first 2 books, but I didn't need to, to enjoy this book, but I will be reading them soon. This is a story of finding your true love again after you had thought you had lost it forever. ( )
