This story is about a brave and courageous woman. She stood for equality and wanted to see her peopl receive justice and be treated fairly with respect. Rosa was a seamstress that worked long hours each day. One day, after getting off of work, she caught the bus. The bus driver told her to move so a white man could sit there and she said "no." Rosa refused to move out of the seat. The police came and arrested Rosa.

I loved this story because of the determination of one brave woman. The mere fact that she stood up for what she believed in at any cost, even risk being arrested and taken to jail. I have the utmost respect and honor for Rosa. She stood up for dignity and equality.

As a classroom extension, after reading the story we would act it out in a play. I would choose all of the characters and we would act the story out. I think the children will tend to remember it better if we act it out. After the play I would assign each child to write one paragraph about Rosa, whether it is about her life growing up or her passion to see equality for all mankind.
