Written by Warren ellis, this Iron Man comic gave us a 21st century Tony Stark/Iron Man. This comic features bio-terrorism, ethical dilemmas, and intrigue. This is one of the best Iron Man stories out there. It came out a few years before the first movie, and the films would use several of it’s ideas and overall tone. Iron Man 3 is heavily inspired by this comic. ( ) This started off good, but didn't really deliver. Plenty of bon mots in the writing, some nice dialogue, and nice use of flashback. But in the end the plot just lets everything down - it's just very dull and traditional (Iron Man fights new villain, gets beaten; IM upgrades armour; IM wins. Essentially it's Rocky III, and many others no doubt). Actually, it was all pretty good until the fighting starts - at the end of the day, I think Ellis is much better at writing Stark than he is Iron Man. The painted art, though occasionally static (in a drawn-from-photo way), is pretty amazing though. Worth taking a look just for that. I found the development of Iron Man and the people around him quite interesting. Mrs. Renny(sp?), Tony's temporary secretary, was not only quite the handful, she's actually very funny and I would love to have story just from her perspective. I bet she's got some corkers to tell about Stark & Co! I thought the villain in this story very two dimensional and the very stereotype of a MAGA hat. While this villain kept running into people who agreed with him on the surface, he found that most of them had very different ideas of how it should work, from the young lady who was the epitome (the best of) Gen-Z idealism to the two mountain men in a same-sex relationship. While it was nice to have his White Straight Boy attitude constantly in conflict with reality, there was little room for nuance, or, for that matter, character development, which the villain desperately needed. The Extremis project - basically nanobots programmed to rewrite/wire the human body - was, in the end a disappointment and not that well developed as a plot device. Yes, it made the villain stronger and gave him the ability to breath fire, etc., but basically, he was a guy running around with a automatic hand gun and too much time on his hands, like you see on the web and the news right at the moment. For all the story came out in 2006 originally, it's pretty on the nose for the past 4 years or so ... http://teensniper.tumblr.com/post/54842420972/150-books-in-2013-50 AKA TONY STARK USES A SAMSUNG FLIP PHONE aucune critique | ajouter une critique
