"In the end, only three things matter. How much you loved, how gently you lived, and how gracefully you let go of things not meant for you."--UnknownIt was a big lie. The biggest lie she'd ever told. It reverberated through her head as she said it, ringing eerily, and the girl behind her eyes--the girl who knew the truth--screamed, and her scream echoed along with the lie."Are you in love with Noah, Mercedes?" Cora asked. "I mean...I know you love him. You've been friends forever. We all have. But are you in love with him?"If it had been anyone else--anyone--Mercedes would have stuck out her chest, folded her skinny arms, and let her feelings be known. She would have claimed him. But it was Cora. Brave, beautiful, broken Cora, and Cora loved Noah too.So Mercedes lied. And with that lie, she lost him. With that lie, she sealed her fate. She was the best friend, the bridesmaid, the godmother, the glue. She was there for the good times and the bad, the ups and the downs, the biggest moments and the smallest parts. And she was there when it all came crashing down. This is the tale of the girl who didn't get the guy.… (plus d'informations)

I usually enjoy this author’s books but this one wasn’t for me. Couldn’t connect with the characters and it was just depressing.

Don't like love triangle.
I don't like the Hero ending up with his girlfriend or wifes best friend either so not for me.

This is a book that made me think and feel so very much. The sacrifices that Mercedes made so that her friend could be happy were selfless. I felt that Cora took full advantage of Mercedes and Noah, playing on their sympathy, and that made me sad for all of them. I was so excited when I saw Moses and Tag, I didn’t get the connection at first, it’s been quite a while since I read The Law of Moses, which if you haven’t read that book you need to get right on that.

My Review of “The Smallest Part” by Amy Harmon

I was captivated and intrigued by “The Smallest Part” by Amy Harmon, In the beginning of the book, it says “In the end, only tree things matter. How much you loved, how gently you lived, and how gracefully you let go of things not meant for you” The Genres for this book are Fiction, Women’s Fiction and Contemporary Fiction, with an essence of Psychic Ability and Magical Realism. The timing of the story is in the past when the characters were children , in the present, and for a hopeful and better future.

The author describes her characters as complex, complicated, mostly likable, and quirky. Noah and Mercedes were always good childhood friends. Cora moved into the development, and the three became great friends. Noah and Cora came from dysfunctional homes. As the years pass the three friends are very close. Noah decides to enter the military. Mercedes tells the biggest lie of her life when Cora asks her if she loves Noah. Mercedes tells Cora, she loves Noah as a brother. Cora and Noah get married, and have a little girl.

Mercedes proves to be the most loyal wonderful friend and godmother to Noah, Cora and Gia. When tragedy occurs, Mercedes proves to be a strong, loyal friend and advocate. Will Mercedes ever have happiness ?

I appreciate the way Amy Harmon, discusses important and significant contemporary issues in society: PSTD, suicide, metal illness, homeless people, and drugs. The author also writes about the importance of friendship, family, friends, loyalty, faith and hope.

I would highly recommend this story for readers of Contemporary Fiction. I received An Advanced Reading Copy for my honest review. ( )
