Constance Owens has a gift for finding unique items in the most unlikely places, which comes in handy since she buys and sells artifacts and antiques for a living. When she purchases a set of four dragon statues, she has no idea just how unique they are, or that finding them will thrust her into a world of secret societies, men who think nothing of kidnapping and murder to get what they want, and dragon shifters. Nic hasn't survived for four thousand years by letting his guard down, and he doesn't trust anyone except his drakon brothers. The loneliness haunting him has been getting worse since all his brothers have found their mates. And when he finds the woman his drakon recognizes instantly as his fated mate, he doubts he'll ever have what his brothers have, because it seems she's involved with the secret society of hunters who have been hunting and capturing his kind for hundreds of years. This book is the fourth in the compelling dragon shifter romance series, "Blood of the Drakons." While not the best in the series, it adds new and exciting possibilities to future books. Nic and Constance are both believable and likable, but frustratingly stubborn at times. Constance is a capable, independent and strong-willed heroine. Nic is handsome, protective, powerful and wounded. Unfortunately, Ms. Walters' characterization of Nic lacks the distinction and depth exhibited in her previous works. The villain, a carryover from the previous books, is deliciously evil. Overall, it is a rousing plot with high stakes, hot sex, and true love, culminating in a surprise twist.

SEXUAL CONTENT: Mostly vanilla M/F, relationship-based sex. About 12% of book is devoted to the explicit description of sexual activity, including four complete sex scenes. Nothing crude and no rape or abuse scenes.
VIOLENCE: The description of violent action described lacks excessive gory details, even when death is involved. There is no rape or torture.
PROFANITY: About 72 instances of profanity occur in the story. However, it blends within the storyline, such that none of the characters seem crude.
ENDING: Satisfying HEA without a cliffhanger, while leaving room for more books in the series.

I loved the first book in this series (Drakon's Promise) and I was delighted to find that Drakon's Past was just as good if not better than it. The two main characters were really well written and their story arc was well thought out and well written. I can't wait for the next book in this series. I am reviewing this book based on an ARC received from NetGalley in exchange for an honest opinion. ( )

Drakon's Past is the story of the 4th brother, Nic. I feel like I have been waiting for his story forever. Nic is very different from his brothers. He isn't a recluse like they were, he enjoys being around people, and he is a fire dragon. Nic lives in Las Vegas and discovers a woman who is attempting to sell a dragon statue. However, Jeremiah Dent of the Knights of the Dragon wants the statue as well.

Constance is a simple woman who has a strange talent for finding valuable things among the junk. Raised by her grandfather, she lives a quite life dealing in antiques with her younger sister, Abigail. She can sense that the statues are dangerous or bad in some way. Both Dent and Nic want them, but she can't imagine that anyone actually believes in dragons! With her sister kidnapped by Dent, Constance will do whatever it takes to get her back. But, she is wildly attracted to Nic and he is the one who is helping her, not threatening her.

Nic's brothers are in contact throughout the book and I enjoyed that. Even though they live in different parts of the USA, they are in communication and care about each other. Nic and Constance have a bit of a 'fated mate' thing going on, but its not quite the insta-love that normally happens and I think a lot of readers appreciate that. The plot is filled with drama and the clash between the Knights and the dragons really reaches a pinnacle. Drakon's Past gives you the romance you want and the action you need! I fell in love with all the brothers and recommend this series if you like unique shifters!

Intrigue. Betrayal. Action-packed.

Drakon’s Past is book four in the Blood of the Drakon series by N.J. Walters.

Nic, I liked him. He’s thinking about the eternal sleep and has lost interest in the world. If you have kept up with the series then you know that Nic has a very sad past and believes he was abound by the one person who is supposed to love and protect him unconditional. He’s not in a good place when Constance shows up in his life.

Constance has a gift for find unique artifacts that people leave behind. She’s also protective of her sister, her only family left, and will do anything to keep her safe.

The romance between Nic and Constance is ok. They both are attracted to each other at first meeting, but theirs too much at stack to give into that attraction. Even by the end I felt they still had things to work on; before their is true love.

One of the things I really like about this series is that the women who are mates to the Drakon all have some kind of unique ability. It’s captivating to learn about these abilities.

As for the storyline it moves forward, but not by much. We do learn a bit about the Dragon Guard and get the sense their maybe more information still to come. Their’s bad guys, magic, action and mating. What I loved most about this one was the surprise we get about Nic’s past. What he thought was true, wasn’t and this knowledge sets him free and brings someone new into his life; besides Constance.

I’m curious to see where this series goes from here. Will we meet more drakon’s? More bothers fighting back against the Knights of the Dragon? Who’s in the Dragon Guard? Lots of questions and possibilities.

Drakon’s Past was another astonishing and delightful read.

Rated: 4 Stars

Nothing better than a big strong dragon with hordes of treasure and able to keep you warm at night.
Constance and her sister Abigail run an internet business selling estate items that they have procured.
But when four statues in the shape of dragons come into their hands - - TROUBLE follows! Who are the bad buys and who are the good? Walters does a great job of narrating a treasure hunting adventure filled with kidnappings, dragons, and steamy romance. "A copy of this book was supplied by Entangled via NetGalley with no requirements for a review. Comments here are my honest opinion. Even though this is the 4th in the Blood of the Drakon series this can be read as a stand-alone. ( )
