A thinking book about what is history, is it a science or is it always biased, with a focus on the Holocaust. ( ) This is a fact-based crushing of the Holocaust denial, or "revisionist" movement, and a lively look at some of the more infamous proponents of that movement, such as David Irving and Ernst Zundel. More than that, however, it's an examination of what history is, whether objective truth is even possible and why it's important. When I read this book, it's like my brain is lifting weights. Better yet, the book itself is readable, fast-paced and even has its moments of humor. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Wikipédia en anglais (12)Denying History takes a bold and in-depth look at those who say the Holocaust never happened and explores the motivations behind such claims. While most commentators have dismissed the Holocaust deniers as antisemitic neo-Nazi thugs who do not deserve a response, historians Michael Shermer and Alex Grobman have immersed themselves in the minds and culture of these Holocaust "revisionists." In the process, they show how we can be certain that the Holocaust happened and, for that matter, how we can confirm any historical event. This edition is expanded with a new chapter and epilogue examining current, shockingly mainstream revisionism. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
