Fiction. Mystery. HTML:The Tobias Ad Agency is in the running for the coveted Golden Storyboard, and Tobi couldn't be more thrilled—until she discovers it's literally an award to die for.

It's an honor just to be nominated. But, let's get real, Tobi wants to win. The St. Louis Advertising Awards are like the Oscars for her field, and Tobi is up for its most prestigious prize, Best Overall Ad Campaign. The competition is always fierce, but this year it's killer . . .

Despite her high hopes, Tobi isn't exactly shocked when she doesn't win. But she is shocked when the winner, Deidre Ryan, takes the stage only to plummet to her death as a platform suddenly gives way. After the police discover foul play, Tobi's Grandpa Stu wastes no time in nominating suspects. But was Deidre the intended victim—or was someone else meant to take the fatal fall? Now it's a race to catch a killer in the spotlight, before another nominee gets the booby prize and Tobi gets trapped in a no-win situation.

The Tobi Tobias series has rapidly become one of my favorite cozy mystery series. The books are consistently well-written, suspenseful, and just fun to read. And Death Goes To...is the third book in the series. I enjoyed it just as much as I did the first two books.

The basics: Tobi's advertising agency is up for an award. She gets all gussied up and goes to the awards banquet. Her firm is up for the Best Overall Ad Campaign Award, and Tobi is incredibly exited. Who can blame her? She's worked hard building up the business in St. Louis, MO. She's excited to be up for the biggest award of the night. The winner takes home the Golden Storyboard, a coveted and prestigious award. The entire evening falls flat after an award winner is killed when a staircase collapses, sending her crashing to the stage below. Turns out it wasn't an accident, but murder. Tobi's Grandpa Stu immediately begins to brainstorm what the motive might be, and soon Tobi finds herself pulled in to yet another murder investigation. Was it greed? Professional jealousy? Revenge? Why would someone have sabotaged that staircase?

I enjoyed this newest bit of sleuthing by Tobi, her Grandpa Stu, and the rest of the gang. The mystery moved at a nice pace with plenty of suspects and investigation. The background theme of the advertising agency and the drama that comes with it is interesting and entertaining. It didn't over power the mystery portion of the book, but adds depth to it. I wasn't surprised by the ending of this one, but enjoyed the action leading up to the reveal. This story provides some great character development for Tobi, her grandpa and his cranky love interest, Ms. Rapple. All in all, a great addition to the series! I'm looking forward to the next book!

AND DEATH GOES TO…
Book 3 in the Tobi Tobias Mysteries
By Laura Bradford

What a joy to get to read another Tobi Tobias Mystery!

Just when you think author Laura Bradford can’t possibly outdo herself, she does! AND DEATH GOES TO… is the best book in this series so far. All outside distraction was a mere whisper in the background as I lost myself in this wonderful tale.

The more I read of these characters, the harder it is to leave them and their world once the story is over. Protagonist Tobi is brilliant. I could spend time talking with her all day. Grandpa Stu is my guy. I simply adore him. I got to see a different side of him in this book, and just wanted to give him a hug.

Ms. Bradford always manages to bring so many levels to her stories. Laugh out loud moments, the tenderness of romance, and of course, the drama of murder. And speaking of murder…Wow! From the unique way the victim was killed (haven’t seen it in a cozy before), through the following investigation, AND DEATH GOES TO… was nonstop twists and turns, with new suspects popping up all over! I honestly had to remind myself to keep breathing.

If you’re a fan of the Tobi Tobias mysteries, or a fan of Laura Bradford’s, you can’t miss, AND DEATH GOES TO… And, if you haven’t read anything by this author, it’s time you do! ( )

Tobi's fledgling agency has been doing pretty well, and it is truly wonderful to her that she is nominated for a Golden Storyboard award at this year's St. Louis Advertising Awards. Sadly, the winner falls to her death onstage and it's not long before the police are calling it murder. There is plenty to like in this book. The characters are a lot of fun, I was glad to see Grandpa Stu so visible with his ideas and how young Sam received so much recognition for his photography. That and a good story are why it is so easy to always follow a favorite author to a new series. ( )

And Death Goes Too… is the third book in the Tobi Tobias Mystery series.

Everything is going great for Tobi and her advertising agency. She’s been getting new clients, has been getting the bills paid and even has gotten a car. And the cherry on her sundae is that she has been nominated for Best Overall Ad Campaign of the St. Louis Advertising Awards. She’s just excited to have been nominated.

Her 16-year-old photographer, Sam, is also up for the Best Photograph in a Print Ad and when his name is announced as the winner, their table is ecstatic. Then when Tobi’s is next and fingers are crossed at her table, but it was not to be as Deidre Ryan name is announced as the winner. She accepts her Gold Suitcase and proceeds to a stairway that leads to a platform where the winner is to stand while the winning ad is shown on a screen next to the winner. But as she is making her way up the platform and stairs collapse, killing Deidre. Quite naturally, everyone at Tobi’s table first thought is that could have been Tobi, but Tobi’s first thought is that the wrong winner had been announced, as the ad that started to play was for Lexa Smyth.

Tobi asks Sam for the pictures that he took at the dinner so she can confirm what she thought she saw. Once she has a chance to review the pictures, she finds that she was right. She begins to wonder if the production room started to play the wrong clip. But taking a closer look at Sam’s pictures she notices that the envelope was different than those for the previous awards. Now that Tobi realizes that this was, in fact, a murder she sets to find why and hopefully the murderer. Once again Tobi will rely on her office manager, JoAnna, Sam, Mary Fran, owner of a pet shop and Sam’s mom, and of course Grandpa Stu to help her sort through the clues.

In addition, Tobi has another problem to solve. Grandpa Stu has been spending a lot of time visiting Ms. Rapple, Tobi’s nosy neighbor, and he hears Tobi tell her boyfriend, Andy, that she wishes it had never gotten so involved with her. Grandpa Stu was hurt by her comment and has turned from the happy-go-lucky gent to an old curmudgeon.

Another wonderful story from Laura Bradford and a book you won’t want to put down. I was taken completely by surprise when the killer was revealed.

I definitely will be watching for the next book in this delightful series. ( )

Laura Bradford provides a solid mystery filled with twists and turns. I enjoyed trying to identify the killer, and I also greatly enjoyed the fact that there was a significant decrease in the use of all of Tobi's nicknames, which I found so distracting in the previous two books in the series. But in some ways, the mystery was overshadowed by Tobi's personal life.

Many times Tobi has mentioned the fact that she's "almost thirty" as though she has the wisdom of the ages at her disposal, but her behavior has proven otherwise. I was thrilled to bits that Tobi finally put on her big girl panties to deal with a situation in a truly adult manner. In some ways, this series could almost be considered the coming of age story of its main character.

As you can tell, I've let Bradford's characters get under my skin while I've been enjoying the mysteries they solve and the advertising background the author provides! The same thing will probably happen to you. ( )
