Top neurosurgeon Samantha Thomson needs to get married fast and is tightlipped as to why. And with over $200,000 on offer to tie the knot, no questions asked, cash-strapped ER nurse Hayden Perez isn't about to demand answers. The deal is only for a year of marriage, but Hayden's going into it knowing it will be a nightmare. Sam is complicated, rude, kind of cold, and someone Hayden barely tolerates at work, let alone wants to marry. The hardest part is that Hayden has to convince everyone around them that they're madly in love and that racing down the aisle together is all they've ever wanted. What could possibly go wrong? Contains mature themes.… (plus d'informations)

I find it super frustrating that the first sexy time we get isn’t when it’s maybe a little drunk and messy but mutually wanted… no we get it in the middle of a stress filled time and I find myself struggle to enjoy it when all I can think is NOW isn’t the time for it. Idc if it’s just a self reassurance for both of them that they are okay and that it’s going to be okay and that they are alive. I’m just not down with it. ( )

This is definitely a feel-good book—something to read or listen to while sitting back and relaxing. Meanwhile, you immerse yourself into the hospital novel, "Who Would Have Thought?".

The story is about Samantha Thomson, a respected neurosurgeon, and Hayden Perez, an ER nurse. When Hayden accepts a lucrative online offer of $200,000 for a year of marriage, she meets Sam.

I have to say that while the story is predictable, it is lovingly portrayed and narrated. There are also exciting secondary characters, such as Luce, a nurse, Hayden's family and Sam's brother, who accompany the plot. Luce is non-binary, and there is a member of Hayden's family who has Alzheimer's disease.

All the subplots accompany the two main characters to the end. Therefore, I can also say that each one of them has depth. The author also described realistically and convincingly the work in the hospital.

It is a recommendable book for those who like fake marriage stories and want to treat themselves to a feel-good book.

Fake relationship…this time a marriage between a neurosurgeon and a nurse for reasons not disclosed till rather late in the novel.

Hayden Pérez is struggling financially. She comes across an anonymous ad asking for a wife for a year. The word ‘compensated’ grabs her attention and she answers the ad. At work, she has an intense-dislike-bordering-on-hate feeling with the top neurosurgeon of the city, Samantha Thomson, who in turn probably doesn’t even notice her. When she does meet the person who posted the ad, it turns out to be Samantha. With a huge amount of money being offered, Hayden grabs the offer and now the two have to convince the world that they are so into each other that their marriage at the end of one month doesn’t seem too far-fetched.

I was given this ARC by the publisher in exchange for an Honest Review.

Hayden is a nurse who is very much living paycheck to paycheck. One night when she's trying to shift from Night Shift to Day Shift she stumbles onto an online ad where someone is looking to be married for a year. Whoever takes the 'job' will get paid to be married for a year. But, the readers (and Hayden) don't know the exact reason at first, and while it drove me as crazy as it drove Hayden not to know when Benson chose to reveal the truth it seemed like the perfect place for it.

Sam is the woman who hires Hayden to marry her. She's a Neurosurgeon at the same hospital where Hayden works and is not the most warm and fuzzy person at work. And so it's definitely a bumpy start to the business relationship. Of course, this is a romance book, and so slowly but surely they learn more about each other as the year goes on. And there were pretty awesome twists and turns that I didn't see coming during the year as well.

There was also a cool subplot about Hayden's best friend (another nurse) Luce and a woman where they get their coffee, Clemmie. It was super, super cute, and very cool.

But, all the characters were amazingly written, from Sam's little brother to all of Hayden's family, especially her four-year-old nephew Javi. The description of four-year-old soccer was totally spot on, and while I will say that for various reasons I don't generally like Alzheimer's Disease stories, this one was so, so well done as a subplot.

With the title I had no clue what I would get inside this novel, but I like TV medical dramas, and one of my favorite hetero movies is The Proposal (I couldn't tell you why, but it is) and so I thought I'd give this story a try and I'm very, very glad that I did. It was so well written and even more importantly it was plotted so tightly that you could probably bounce a quarter off of it. Seriously, go read it, you won't regret it. ( )
