This book is about a lumberjack who encounters some new friends because of his lumberjack job. While working in the forest he has to cut down a lot of animals home. He soon gets the idea to let the animals live in his beard. This book is very colorful and an easy read for children. ( )

This book is a wonderful book for younger grades to introduce vocabulary, onomatopoeia, and nature. The book tells of a lumberjack who is visited by a bird who lost their home. Jim, the lumberjack lets him live in his beard. The next day he gets more visitors who have lost their home and Jim lets them live in his beard too. In the end he plants more trees and takes care of nature so that the animals can have a proper home to live in. ( )

The story begins with Jim who is a lumberjack. Jim has a set routine and one day at work after chopping down all of the trees he gets an unexpected visit from a bird who is complaining about no longer having a home to live in so Jim offers the bird his beard to live in. The next following day a porcupine and beaver visit Jim to make him aware that his actions have caused them to lose their homes as well. Jim lets them live in his beard as well, but after a few days, he can longer have them living in his beard so he decides to cut his beard. He uses the beard so that the animals have a new place to live in. He then comes up with an even better idea and plants new trees everywhere eventually they grow and everyone has a new home. This is a great book to use with kindergarten through fourth grade. It is great for introducing new vocabulary as well as onomatopoeia. It is also a good book to teach children how important it is for wildlife to be maintained. ( )

A lumberjack named Jim lives his day to day life with a straightforward routine. However, when unexpected guests take up residence in his beard, life gets complicated. The book makes good use of ending sounds, alliteration, as well as patterns, shown in Jim's daily life. This is a silly story that younger kids will enjoy, as they try to guess what happens to Jim next. ( )

This book is about a lumberjack who fit the whole criteria of being a lumberjack. He was big, loved pancakes, had a beard and was strong. His hard work at cutting trees took away from the animals that lived there. This story shows the importance of conservation and the lumberjack makes a home for these animals in his beard. ( )
