I like that we're allowed to follow familiar characters and learn more about them. This story focuses more on Alex Wolf and Jason Chen, their relationship, and Jason's family, who are not pleased about Jason's preferences or interest in men. Add in a vampire from State Paranormal trying get between the pair and a whole slew of fascinating cryptid animals made of clay, and Jason and Alex have their hands full. Each book in this series keeps adding layers, not just to the characters, but the squad, the people and/or entities who live with the 77th, and the world which they all inhabit. I look forward to the next book in the seies. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Alex and Jason have sort of settled in to a relationship, although it is still fairly new. As such, they have insecurities about each other, and many things still to learn. On top of that, Alex's squad seems to be under a lot of scrutiny, which is worrying for all of them, especially Alex.
Then weird beings start appearing. They are the stuff of myths and legends, literally. Different mythical creatures seem to be popping up in pairs, and the squad has to try and figure out what is going on and how to stop it.
I liked the build in relationship in this one. Both Alex and Jason had their issues to get through, and they worked through them. Nothing moved really quickly, or in a way that felt as though it was actually meant for someone else. Seeing further in to both Alex's and Jason's worlds together and separately was also interesting.
Good world building, and the actual case was unique. ( )
