A prequel to the author’s “Forget Me Not,” this disturbingly dark short story is a nightmarish introduction to the two main characters of the story. In the prequel, Jay and Robin are children; in the follow-up story, several years have passed and they are now adults.
Hearty-pounding and intense, the captivating story is light on the “why” details of the events, but definitely grim and disturbing. Since the story is relevant only to the book that follows, it does not stand well on its own . . . it leaves the readers with many questions and no answers, serving only to set the stage for the larger story. The author’s many fans will find much to appreciate here; new readers are sure to find themselves drawn into the continuing story.
