From their hilarious hallway meeting to the attraction she is fighting every inch of the way. Coming from a long term dead end relationship and trying to get her new business of the ground leaves her no time for Lukas. He's having none of it and stakes his claim on getting to know her. He has baggage and a haunting past he's working through and she's focused on launching her business. Sparks fly and they start a relationship with it's share of ups and downs, fantastic sex, meddling people, & misunderstandings. Chemistry is great and both characters are strong. Looking forward to the next book involving their friends. ( ) I enjoyed this story a lot. My only complaint would be that when it came time to reveal the details of Lukas's past, it was quite an exposition. I'd have preferred for this information to have been peppered throughout. Especially since the big moment of intimacy for Lia and Lukas was later after the exposition anyway. I was all over the map with how I felt about this; first I read it slowly for me. 5 days! This means that it wasn't holding my attention well. The relationship was fine, the characters were fine (I would've liked more Julian I guess!), the male POV was well done in general, but there was just nothing noteworthy to get me excited about this book or author. There's also nothing stopping me from grabbing another of her books if I feel like it. Obviously, this review is solidly in the so-so category. This was a very cute story. I didn't "love" it persay but I was entertained for sure. It reminded me of too many other contemporary romances (I was getting it mixed up with the eBook I was reading at the same time) to be completely unique. I also think that perhaps the audio version wasn't the best decision. I didn't particularly like the choppiness of the female narrator's voice. That went away a bit when I bumped up the speed. Which was another think I noted. When it comes to contemporary romances (ones that I could read in less than 4 hours by eBook), I need to bump up the speed to not drag out the story. This one clocks in at 8 hours which is a very long time to listen to. Nonetheless, I'm really excited for the sequels! Full Review: https://wp.me/p7hLUw-2z5 Actual Rating: 3/5 This book was AWESOME, the story of Lukas and Lia is amazing. The author has such deep character development that happens in this book, and really you can feel them growing as a person. Lukas, the rich self-made man is a womanizing man whore, until he comes across Lia. I don't want to say how because it is part of the plot. Lia grew up in upstate New York, and moved to the city when life took a nose dive. When she comes across Lukas, she is totally opposed to anything and everything to do with him. She like the nice orderly life she has made for herself, and she has no intention of straying from her path. Life has a funny way of kicking you in the perverbial balls, just when you think you have your stuff it order, fate is like..."not today sucker" and things happen, and life changes at a whim. The author has a knack for making the reader feel a part of the story, not just a vouyer. This story is told in first person alternating views. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

I'll be the first to admit that I live at extremes. After going ten years locked in what felt like a dysfunctional marriage, I'm now decidedly boy-free. In nearly three years I've had no boyfriends, no flings, no dates and no sex. For the sake of my dream career, the sacrifice has been easy. At least it was. Until he came along. Lukas Hendricks. He's rude, gorgeous, arrogant-a stone-carved wall of muscle and distraction. He's everything I know to avoid but there's no avoiding your next-door neighbor. Oh yeah. The man now lives three steps from me and to make matters worse, he crashed into my life while I was relaxed in the tub-mortifying to say the least and it went something like this: I was exposed. He looked. He laughed. And then I locked myself out. In short, Lukas Hendricks was trouble from the start. And me? I was-for the first time in years-about to be screwed. Contains mature themes.
