A young boy discusses the journey he is about to make with his mother. They will leave their town, she explains, and it will be sad but also a little bit exciting. They will have to say goodbye to friends and loved ones, and that will be difficult. They will have to walk and walk and walk, and although they will see many new and interesting things, it will be difficult at times too. This short and sweet story of a young child and his mother leaving the country as refugee talks about the experiences and emotions they will face as they leave their home and travel to a new home. This story uses simple language and descriptions that gives enough understanding for young learners without being innapropriate or too intense. I would use this book in PreK-Kinder to be able to give some insight about the lives of other children in the world and build world empathy.

This book would be good for children grades 3 and up.
This book is about a little kid where they explain that just because he is a refugee, doesnt mean that is his name and it doesnt define truly who he is ( )

This book was really eye opening and a great book for learning about how refugees are more than just that (refugees) they have a name and a story. ( )

This story is about a little boy and his mother who are on a journey. As his mother gets him ready for their journey she gives him different scenarios and asks him questions on how he would handle things that they would experience. It seems like she was trying to get his mind off of the thought of leaving a familiar place but prepare for what was to come on their journey and new home. When they did make it, his mother let him know that he would be called refugee but to remember that was not his name.
I like the message the book the gave but I would have liked to know where they came from and where they were traveling to. ( )
