Martin and his friends discovered that their world is computer generated and that by altering the code, they could alter reality. They traveled back in time to Medieval England to live as wizards. Almost everything they've done since then has, in one way or another, blown up in their faces. So of course they decide to make dragons. It does not go well. As the wizards struggle to control their creations and protect innocent citizens, they try new things (most of which they don't enjoy), meet new people (most of who are angry at them), and fight epic battles (most of which they lose). But their biggest challenge may be a young girl who knows that the wizards created the dragons and is determined to make them pay. On her side she has powerful allies, a magical artifact, and a faithful if not particularly helpful dog. Fight and Flight is a rollicking tale of bravery, wonder, love, revenge, greed, discovery, deception, and animal husbandry.… (plus d'informations)

What a great diversion from the usual type of story these series have. This one is pretty much just a fun little adventures without an antagonist - a nice change of pace. ( )

This series is pure fun. It's geeky, and involves time-traveling computer programers who live in the past as wizards. Each book involves a different adventure overcoming interesting problems and obstacles, but the real joy is in the characters, and especially in the superlative job Luke Daniels does as narrator. This story was not as good as the first 2 in the series, but it was still full of fun and remained entertaining. The ending sets up the next book which i am looking forward to very much. ( )

I loved the first two books of this series, and decided to give this one a go even though I was not a fan of the third. The main conflict seems like something that at it's start felt like something that would just be a catalyst into the real conflict rather than something to center a whole book around. The main characters feel flat, they're less fleshed out with each book. Additional characters are irritating. ( )

You know how sometimes when you laugh you can really feel it? That's how it was at times, reading this fourth book in Scott Meyer's Magic 2.0 series.

Fight and Flight follows the latest mishaps of Martin and his friends -- all time travelers who discovered a bit of computer code that allows them to alter reality.

The protagonists hail from various times, with varying degrees of technology; they migrated to England in the Middle Ages so they could live as wizards and subsequently underwent a series of disastrous adventures.

In Fight and Flight, much of the mishap is of the wizards' own making; they decide they need something to fight to keep them on their game, so they create non-lethal dragons. The wizards must then protect townspeople from successfully killing themselves during confrontations with the dragons.

Because of its nature -- medieval England and wizardry via computer code -- these books can appeal to readers of both fantasy and science fiction. I am looking forward to the release of Book 5. ( )

Another frustrating edition to the series.

I enjoyed the sense of discovery in the early books of this series. I liked some, but not all, of the characters introduced. I keep reading, hoping this series will go somewhere interesting, but have been disappointed for at least two books.

This book spends about a third of the time on filler with worthless characters like Garry and Tyler. These two are okay as semi antagonist buddy dialog for the mains, but on their own just fall flat. This book also introduces a new, non wizard, medieval England character, who isn't worth the page time but is there nonetheless.

The most annoying part of this book is how imbecilic all the wizards are in this book. Here they are, masters of space and time, but they can't even figure out simple strategies for using their powers despite literally being able to make time. This is to say nothing of the total disregard for curiosity about "the file" and its origins.

Even the allegedly competent Britt only uses her time manipulation to change clothes and take a shower, yet our "heroes" are continually struggling to deal with situations that a tiny bit of reflection (or napping) time would solve completely.

These idiots are supposed to have been computer programmers whose deep curiosity lead them to discover a glitch in the simulation and attain godlike powers? Please. ( )
