This book is about a boy who is trying to prove that dinosaurs are still alive for his science project. He explains the first dinosaur he found actually found him and then he had to sneak out at night to observe the other dinosaurs. He finds dinosaurs eating out of garbage cans and eating too much sugar. He says dinosaurs like to look good so they get haircuts and like massages. He finds dinosaurs going to school and then having occupations. His conclusion is Dinosuars are alive and their extinction was just a cover upo to let them have their privacy. This book is a good example of science fiction because it portrays dinosaurs being able to do human like things. The media was rendered in watercolor, colored pencil, and gouache. The sketches were rendered in colored pencil. Age Primary

A boy is on a quest to prove that there are dinosaurs. He uses the scientific method to form a hypothesis. He also collects data on his discoveries and documents it by using photos. He carefully arranges the data so it is well thought out and organized. He has everything to turn in his hypothesis and research the next day. However, we discover that the dinosaurs ate his homework. There are so many brilliant elements of this text. To start, the format of the book takes on the form of a notebook filled with data to support his hypothesis. Even though the dinosaurs’ names and characteristic may not be accurate, the use of the scientific method and use of data is. From Glamoursoarus to Hippisoarus, this definitely is a book that will keep you laughing until the very end. This book brilliantly diminishes the gender barrier that is attached to dinosaurs and appeals to both sexes. The absolute perfect book to use in the classroom while introducing the scientific method. “The extinct files” is a text that involving dinosaurs and scientific discovery. The link to dinosaurs is a great topic because children of all ages love dinosaurs from 2 year olds to 12 year olds. The main aspect of the book is the use of the scientific method. It’s used in a fun way for the children to understand how the scientific method works. It also uses vocabulary that is specific to science terms as well as higher level thinking words. Some of the words used are Triceratops, Diet, Hypothesis, haunting, and romantic. Another thing you notice made up words such as Glamorousaurus, Gorgeousaurus, and fossilball. The book is interesting and using a creative outlook to help teach a difficult subject. ( )

I like how the book was laid out. The beginning was made as a secert C.I.A. file of discovering dinosuars are still alive! The rest of the book was set up as a science project starting with the hypothesis and proving his theory. I thought it was wonderful. It can be used when discussing the scientific method or getting ready for the science fair.

A science report on a pet iguana quickly becomes a discovery of living dinosaurs. Very fun read. Really like the layout of his methodology. ( )
