I liked this, despite contemporary romance not really being my thing. An overheard insult, scathing fatphobic Mean Girls, and a major focus on the heroine's angst and insecrity. Only one complaint: why the hell did SHE have to be the one to grovel in the end? I get that the hero had developed feelings for her, but she had no way of knowing that! He kept insisting that his romantic gestures were for show - and I get why - but she had no reason not to believe him. She took him at his word instead of reading into his action, which is the RIGHT move, IMO. And she was a virgin, ffs! Of COURSE she was unsure; he was one with the upper hand in the relationship, he should have been honest about what he was feeling! And her sudden confidence in his feelings for her, I dunno, just hard for me to relate to. Still, of course, being right up my alley, it goes on the approriate shelves, and might be a re-read when looking for chubby-girl angst. And I may check out the next book, too, if it caters to any of my favored tropes. (3.5 stars) (

I enjoyed it but not as much as I'd hoped to. I kind of look to NA for in depth angsty stories and this one wasn't really either. It was basically just a pleasant little contemporary. It was nice but nothing that will make me want to reread it like I do [b:The Unwanted Wife|16056862|The Unwanted Wife (Unwanted, #1)|Natasha Anders|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1349084566s/16056862.jpg|21842751]. That one was full of angst and had the element of the husband making a huge mistake and really bending over beyond backwards to make it up to his wife. If I'm going to read fantasy, that's the kind I want. ;-)

All that being said, it was well written and pretty well plotted. And I don't regret reading it. I am still a fan of this author and hope the next one is a bit more like some of her others instead of tame like this one. (

Ok, so there was nothing earth shattering or truly unique about this book but I really liked it a lot. It is a fake dating romance where a young woman, Daisy, considers herself the ordinary, less than, other sister of the family. Mason's brother asks him to be his wingman as he tries to get the attention of Daisy's sister. All Mason has to do is distract Daisy, but he ends of having a good time with her. Of course she finds out that same night what was up and guilts Mason into being her date for her other sister's wedding in two weeks. They begin "fake" dating in order to make it more believable that they would be going to the wedding together.

I really thought they were cute together and I liked how Mason treated her until he was trying to distance himself from her close to the end of the book. Obviously they work things out and there are a few teasers to the next book in the series. I think this one will be a new comfort read. (

It was okay.
Pretty predictable troupe.
Mean girls group, super hunky guy distracts ugly duckling sister so friend can chat to the other sister.
The mean girls were a bit over done, there was no middle ground.
No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine.
No cheating.
Breadcrumbs dropped for future books in series.
HEA.
