I am not as familiar with Monica Murphy's The Rules series or One Week Girlfriend series as I would like to be. That's okay though because Safe Bet has a voice all it's own. Ms. Murphy took me back to a time of first love, insecurity and discovering one's place in an uncertain world. The road is hard but the reward is worth the fight. Sydney and Drew represent every person afraid to follow their dreams, every missed opportunity and every hope that something better awaits. It's easy to relate to characters that have pieces of us all written into them. Her skill at touching the heart, tickling the senses and supplying food for thought are a few of the many reasons why Monica Murphy is a regular on my favorites list. ( ) This was a good breezy short read. Just what I needed after reading some darker books. Wade and Sydney are 2 people thrown together when the paparazzi goes crazy over a BS story about Sydney and her boss. This story while part of a series can be read totally as a stand alone. Okay so now for what I see is the downside. Mind you, opinions are like body parts just cause you have them doesn't mean we want to see em. This story flounders at the end. It jumps ahead months and boom. Its over. I found that most disappointing. Any who take it for what its worth. This story is told in 1st person alternating point of view. This was the mashup I never knew I needed! I was really excited for Sydney's story and for Wade's as well. I just really wanted to see them get a happy ending. It was great to revisit one of my all time favourite couples--Drew and Fable. The couple that made me fall in love with the New Adult genre as a whole. Every scene they were in stole the show for me. I do wish this story was longer though. Everything felt so rushed; and I'm not just talking about the time frame either of 7 days. If anything, [b:One Week Girlfriend|17202452|One Week Girlfriend (One Week Girlfriend, #1)|Monica Murphy|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1361553462s/17202452.jpg|23678657] proved to me that you can still have a solid story in a short amount of time. I just felt like any conflict that was introduced was promptly resolved without a hitch. There was so much potential for growth with these two characters and so it felt like a missed opportunity. Regardless, it was still a super sweet read that brightened up my day and I think fans of either series will enjoy it. Sydney Walker's new job is perfect. As the live-in nanny to the most famous quarterback in the NFL and his beautiful wife, she couldn't have it any better. Their kids are adorable. Her bosses are more than generous. Plus, there are hot football players at the house all the time. Life can't get much better than this. Until her life turns into an absolute nightmare. The media is abuzz with rumors that she and her boss Drew Callahan are having a torrid affair. Everyone knows the truth-except the public. So Drew's wife Fable comes up with the perfect idea. She creates a fake relationship between Sydney and one of the rookie players on Drew's team. Wade Knox is forever indebted to Drew and Fable and readily agrees to the set up. Pretending to be in a romantic relationship with the hot nanny for a week-how hard can it be? Crazy how it only takes one week for two people to fall head over heels in love... (This mash-up new adult romance features characters from both the One Week Girlfriend series and The Rules series.) Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
