This book describes the hydrologic cycle in detail using key vocabulary words such as evaporation, precipitation, condensation, liquid, solid, and vapor. I liked this book because it is talking about the water cycle but is does it in a way children could understand. It uses the key vocabulary words but it puts the definitions in kid friendly language. I also like the pictures that it uses to describe what is happening to the water in each stage. The pictures show where the water started, where it goes and how it gets there. I would use this book in upper elementary grades to introduce the water cycle. It goes into details so it gives students a glimpse of what the water cycle is and it introduces key words and phrases. ( )

This book gives a comprehensive look a the different cycles that water goes through in relation to the sun in the sky. As well as all of the different places and types of water formations be that solid, liquid or gas that we have on the planet. This looks at the various needs of water that we have on the planet and how it is important. This book would be good to use in a unit that looks at water cycles and investigate water or H2O in its various forms. This would be a good look into the different systems that we have on earth that water is a key component in. ( )

Rivers of Sunlight: How the Sun Moves Water Around the Earth by Molly Bang is a book for children that teaches about the water cycle.

I liked the book and all the information it gives. It helps readers see how integral our sun is to the water cycle and without it, life would be nonexistent. The book illustrates how our ancestors collected water and the importance of using water sparingly.

What I didn't like about the book was the layout. The illustrations were good and easy to understand, but the yellow and white text scattered around the pages makes it a little confusing. It's not easy for young readers to follow without adult help.

This is a great resource for learning about the water cycle. The text is easy to read. The colorful illustrations further enable the concepts to be easily understood. I love this book and wish I had had a copy when I was a classroom teacher! ( )
