I didn't really start to like this story until the end. I liked Gemma more than Venero, the dragon shifter princess bent on avenging her Sword Sister, but she really missed the boat on strategizing. Her vengeance plan is to first marry the evil prince, if he carries the Seed, bed him, then she plans on killing him. The problem with this plan is that he turns the tables on her and if it wasn't for a talking toad she'd be enslaved or dead. Lets discuss the talking toad, it's really the evil prince's twin brother whom he cursed.

This reads like an adult version of 'The Frog Prince' except the writing comes across very young reader, but with graphic sex scenes. The Toad, aka Prince Venero, comes across as rude, self-centered and insulting for the majority of the story, until the end when we get to read about his reputation as being a good, caring leader. Not my favorite read, for me it took too long for the characters to become likeable and more like the noble characters I wanted them to be the entire story.
