"Scrooge, or rather Scrooje, is music's biggest superstar, with one hundred million albums sold, fifteen million devoted YouTube subscribers, two and a half million Facebook likes, and twenty-five million fanatical Twitter followers known as Scroojites. Belle, is a legal shark who gulps down her opposition voraciously and whose beauty and stunning figure causes traffic accidents as she zips through the sidewalks of Manhattan stylishly adorned and taking no prisoners. They never imagined being music's most powerful couple, but that's exactly what happened when Belle fell head over heels and gave the Coke-bottle glasses wearing, plaid and stripe attired, scrawny, biggest nerd on her college campus the ultimate makeover, turning him into a fashion impresario whose style sets trends from Milan to NY Fashion Week and who can be seen courtside at the NBA Finals sporting a perfectly-fitted cashmere suit. Together, along with Scrooje's best friends, Marley and Cratchit, they rise to the top of the music world. Belle becomes the brains behind the scenes and Scrooje becomes the sexy superstar who becomes more and more outrageous. Then Marley dies in a tragic accident, Scrooje exploits his death to sell millions of records, begins cheating his artists and betrays Belle's most intimate trust. In a heart wrenching decision she leaves him. Now, it's been three years since they've spoken, but tonight at Hollywood's biggest red carpet event, Scrooje will have to take the journey of a lifetime to heal from his tragic childhood and feelings of being unworthy of love, relive how he and Belle fell wonderfully in love, remember the people who helped him along the way and melt the ice that has turned his heart cold. Second chances don't often come around but tonight he'll be given something we all wish we had, a chance to make things right. Will he listen to Marley's life and love saving advice? With millions watching, will Scrooje finally set aside his ego, jeopardize his image and ask for Belle's forgiveness? And most important of all will Belle even give Scrooje a chance? Get ready for a page-turning hilarious romantic comedy that's packed with heart and soul in a witty satire about race, class and celebrity worship!"--… (plus d'informations)

I really enjoyed this; t's touching, romantic, clever, and thought provoking I didn't laugh out loud, but I was very amused through the entire book. The plot is inspired by A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, although this doesn't stick to the Christmas theme. It is narrated mostly by Scrooʝe, Belle, and Cratchit.

Scrooʝe belongs to a loving family, until his parents are killed in a car accident, leaving him and his beloved younger sister Fannie Lou in the care of Grandma Candy, who dies when they are twelve and ten, leaving Scrooʝe to the foster care system. A bright, studious boy, wanting to be a teacher, cursed with poverty and coke bottle glasses, he looks to be social outcast in college, until he meets Belle, who turns him into a sharp dresser, reveals his good looks to the envy of the other girls, and their future life together is looking very promising.

Until Scrooʝe and his friends Marley and Cratchit turn out to be talented rappers, and Scrooʝe discovers a positive genius for manipulating media attention, including exploiting Marley's death; and cheating other people, including Cratchit, through sharp dealing. Eventually, Belle has enough, and leaves him.

Then Marley and the three spirits get hold of him, and Scrooʝe has to think about what he has become and where he wants to go.

A very satisfying book, and I will definitely look for more from this author. ( )

I feel like I was reading a different book from the other readers. Every review that I have seen thus far was how much everyone enjoyed this book and the twist on a classic story of Scrooʝe. This is where I do agree with the readers. I liked this modern day twist on this classic. However, the biggest reason I wanted to check out this book is due to the promoting of this book being a satirical, comedic read. I have read books in this category and had both reactions...good and bad. Yet, when it came to this book I thought it would be like black humor. Which is more of a dry humor but funny and maybe even a little crude. This is the book I was expecting. Sadly, I did not get this outcome. I hardly laughed. There was so more hope that I had for this book that I kept reading it despite my lack of interest; just waiting for the turning point but it never came for me.

I never really understood why Belle still held feelings for Scrooʝe. Scrooʝe was a jerk. Even when the story flashed back to when Belle and Scrooʝe first met, I had no love for Scrooʝe. Belle on the other hand was a dear heart. As I stated this book may not have been for me but you find try it out yourself as I seem to be in the minority group. ( )
