Update: Not going to elaborate on the storyline or the characters, it can all be found in the reviews written by others. I only want to say that I loved everything about this book. Everything. Adding it to my favorites. **** Opened the book today to discover that it has an ugly new cover instead of the old drop-dead-naughty one :| Thank god for Calibre. All wrongs are set to right now. And thank god for the new ugly cover, because on my travels to find a good size old cover, I stumbled upon this masterpiece of a trailer (turned out later it was in one of the reviews, too - ha-ha) http://youtu.be/DvcDWlfTo1w There is more behind the scenes! Find out HERE Discreet Young Gentleman by M.J. Pearson was a delightful read with great historical detail and star crossed lovers. At times it did not feel as polished as The Price of Temptation, but there was loads of historical man love goodness that more than made up for it. AND those covers just rock my socks. Get it here in paperback at the Book Depository. This was recommend by mythdefied and it was adorable. Adorable is the right word. It's a regency romance story, like some of our favorite slash fanfic authors write. It has all the plot points of a Georgette Heyer regency romance book (sleeping a night in a barn; getting robbed, you know all the things you find in fine romance novels. Good writing and good characters, Dean and Rob are like I said adorable and follow all the stages protagonists met for each other go thru in romance novel. Took me a few hours to read. Fun and should appeal to all slash readers who like their stories romantic. Even the cover keeps the standards of good old modern romance novels alive. No damsels falling out of their dresses but discreet young gentleman in tight pants. *grin*
Turmoil erupts when Dean Smith, Earl of Carwick, is tricked into being discovered in the company of Rob, a handsome male prostitute. Now Dean needs to repair his broken engagement to a wealthy heiress. A gay male romance with all sorts of plot twists and turns from the author of PRICE OF TEMPTATION. I absolutely loved this. I enjoyed the previous M.J. Pearson story I'd read, The Price of Temptation, so I came in expecting a good historical m/m romance - and that's certainly what I got. Pearson has a talent for writing the angst people go through when they're struggling with whether to act on their desires and it shines in this book, too. I've another book by her that I can't wait to dive into. ( )
