The cover should indicate to you not to take this too seriously, as it is designed to be light and fun. Often — all too often — this means dull or silly or lame beyond words. The authors manage to strike just the right balance here, however, to make this enjoyable fluff. Once in a while, they walk that high wire between fun cozy fluff and too ridiculous to read, but they always manage to work in enough genuinely funny moments, and keep the story moving nicely along, to keep from falling. Felicity and Alice, and their respective beaus, head for Windmere Castle in England to do some wraith wrangling. Soon their employer is a ghost — murdered — and one of the beaus is kidnapped. There are ghosts, rats, some Russians, some Fabergé eggs, and some genuinely funny interactions which follow. A few things were eye-rolling but it moved at such a nice little pace that I rarely had time to dwell on it. Overall, good fun. I picked this up for free on Kindle and while I haven’t run out and picked up another, I probably will soon, and start at the beginning, just to have something frivolous but enjoyable to have on hand for times I’m in the mood. Take two Wraith Wrangler wannabee couples, a drafty old English castle, stir in a clash of ghosts both once human and the other rats, shake in murder, a stolen egg gem and you have an hilarious story! I can't wait for book 7 to how the authors can top this one! ( )
