I received this book in exchange for an HONEST review.

Let me start by saying that I am a huge Bob Mayer fan (the Area 51 series) - I originally started reading his books under the name "Robert Doherty".

I love aliens and action and Mr. Mayer's books normally combine both. I am not REALLY into the Time Patrol "spin off" as I tend to stay clear of time travel stories...they get too messy and too confusing, but since this was from the Area 51 series, I wanted to see what it was like.

As some other reviews have stated, it does get a bit confusing at times but it is not hard to track if you pay attention - there is A LOT going on. I didn't read the first Time Patrol books so I think I will go back, read those and then give this one a try again to see if starting from the beginning adds to the read (as it does with some series). I will definitely continue with the Area 51 series (maybe not Time Patrol), but if you like TIME TRAVEL and historical fiction, I would definitely recommend this series!

Overall 3.5 stars! ( )

I did finish the book but I was so confused by the first 50 pages that I almost gave up. This was my first book by Mr. Mayer and he presented to me so many characters and time lines, I could almost could not get into the story and almost stopped reading it. The story would for me jump from one character and time period for a couple of paragraphs then jump to a new person and time. I’d like one day to ready earlier books and perhaps I’ll find it a more enjoyable read. I can’t in all honesty give this a high review. ( )

I love this series! This one is book #3 of the Time Patrol series and it doesn't disappoint. Think one part miltary action, one part Sci-fi, and one part historical drama. Once you start reading it, you will have trouble putting it down until you've reached the end. The writing flows nicely, even with the multiple storylines and POVs. The characters and settings are layered and developed very well. I look forward to the next installment! For Sci-fi and military readers, especially those who love attention to historical detail.

Received this book as part of Earlier Reviewers on Librarything.com. A unique and interesting plot line, one that I was not familiar with but once comprehended made the story more interesting. I believe this is the first of a new series, but even so, I'm left with the impression that there has been a preceding series in which a lot of the characters have been introduced and somewhat developed. Only a little more character development was accomplished, a great deal of narrative action, and the forwarding of the plot line whatever it ultimately may be. An easy read; as said, lots of action to keep one's interest. However, it just didn't grab my interest. ( )
