Thriller Savich and Sherlock take on a case about attempted murder for a family friend. Mean while another member of the team headed to California to find the person's responsible for the murder of several up and coming actresses. Book 20... Both cases are pretty straightforward. Very few twists or turns, the main suspects have tried to be hidden by things that make them all seem innocent, but in the end, not much of a surprise. Liked that a few past characters had small "cameos", that is always fun. Synopsis: 'When Savich and Sherlock are called in to solve a mystery surrounding a close family friend who also happens to run an international conglomerate, they soon find the danger may be closer to home than they ever expected. Venus Rasmussmen, a powerful society icon, behaves someone is poisoning her - Savich and Sherlock must peel away the layers to uncover the incredible truth about who would target Venus before it's too late. Meanwhile, Special Agent Cam Wittier leaves Washington for Los Angeles to work with local Detective Daniel Montoya and lead the hung for the Starlet Slasher, a serial killer who has cut the throats of five young actresses, before he draws a bead on his next victim. But when a sixth young actress is murdered, Cam knows she must find another way to uncover who's really behind these senseless killings - and that the answer might be something she never saw coming.' Review: This was a really interesting story until the last chapter or so. The story just seemed to end rather than really come together. I was less than satisfied with the culmination. Catherine Coulter has written yet another well-paced, interesting thriller, this time where FBI agents Shepard and Savich are trying to figure out which family member of an elderly businesswoman is trying to poison her and steal her money and corporate fortunes, while Cam is off in LA tracking a serial killer. I like her writing because it's detailed enough without ever getting super gory. We're parceled out information at a steady rate as the detectives work to solve the case and the twists just keep coming. A great read. 4.5/5 stars. Please forgive typos.
