Examines the need for a new cultural ideal, replacing militarism by the values shown in the life of John Woolman. Myers calls us to replace the ideal of the warrior hero, with an ideal of the human who is compassionate. The hero ideal should be consistent in his principles, compassionate, feeling deeply the wounds of the oppressed and suffering even when far away and unseen, and morally imaginative, seeing deeply into the interconnections and implications of things, and how the things we do affect others. He explains how these virtues are exemplified in the life of John Woolman. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
