A Flag Full Of Stars It has been eighteen months since the Starship Enterprise completed her historic five-year mission and her legendary crew has seperated, taking new assignments that span the galaxy. On Earth, Admiral James T. Kirk has married and started a new life as the Chief of Starfleet operations where he is overseeing the refit of his beloved ship, now commanded by a new Captain -- Willard Decker. Kirk's only tie to his former crewmates is his Chief of Staff, a young Lieutenant Commander named Kevin Riley. But Kirk's new, quiet life changes when he meets a scientist named G'dath who is on the brink of perhaps the greatest scientific discovery in a century. G'dath's invention could mean tremendous strides in Federation technology, or -- in the wrong hands -- the subjugation of countless worlds. When Klingon agents capture this new technology, Admiral Kirk and Lt. Commander Riley are all that stands between peace and devastation for the entire Federation.… (plus d'informations)

Another gap filler before the movies. A very uninteresting story made more fun by the fact that it features a Klingon who lives in Stuy Town (where I used to live). I could forgive the weirdness of Kirk being married, the lack of Enterprise crew, the obsession with Kevin Riley because of how amusing that was.

A solo adventure with Kirk (and Riely, but does he really count?) with great moments including the launching of the saucer section of the retrofitted Enterprise and Kirk captaining the space shuttle Enterprise. Leads well into the first picture. ( )

i was still excited from reading the previous book in the lost years saga when i picked up this book. So naturally when I started to read I was expecting a story about Kirk, Spock and McCoy. However the book follows Just Kirk in a tale of his life as an admiral, the previous book had a happy ending and Kirk seemed to be adjusting well to his new Promotion. This book however takes of roughly a year after the previous one. The happy ending that had been delivered by "the lost years" had grown sour and once again Kirk finds himself lusting after a starship, ignoring his new marriage in order to refit the enterprise.
Where as Spock and McCoy are nowhere to be found.
The book seemed to drag and I dint not start to enjoy it till I had made it half way through the book. I enjoyed the storyline for G'dath and his students, I just wished that there were more familiar characters. All in all the story was a good read. Not a brilliant one. ( )

The second in the Star Trek "Lost Years" saga, in which Kirk, married and starting a new life in Starfleet, meets a Klingon scientist on the brink of the greatest scientific discovery in a century, and must recruit an old shipmate, Kevin Riley, to protect the Klingon scientist and his discovery from Klingon agents. A good adventure, told with an eye toward exploring Kirk's growing pains. ( )

Admiral James T. Kirk stopped in mid-pace, hands clasped behind his back, and gazed through the transparent north wall of his Starfleet office at the Golden Gate and the magnificent old bridge that spanned it.
