The new Dodge Charger, Challenger, and other LX-platform cars bring modern V-8 performance to unparalleled heights, and the new Challenger and Charger Hellcats are the most powerful American production cars today. The outrageous performance and audacious styling has earned a large and dedicated following. However, you can tune and modify the Chrysler 300, Dodge Magnum, Charger, and Challenger for more performance, and for many owners, fast is not fast enough. In the pursuit of a higher-performing LX-platform car, former Mopar Muscleeditor Randy Bolig has created this book to show you how to extract ultimate performance from these cars. Chrysler has built more than one million Chargers, Challengers, and other full-size-platform cars starting with the Dodge Magnum and Chrysler 300. These cars offer competent handling, braking, and suspension performance, but they can be made much better through a set of targeted upgrades using better aftermarket equipment. Bolig gives you a comprehensive guide to the cars and engines. He details the features, benefits, and drawbacks of each package or set of upgrades, so you select the best modification for your car, application, and budget. He also covers basic to extreme modifications for the R/T and SRT8 models with the 5.7-, 6.1-, and 6.4-liter Hemi engines. Guidance for installing heads, rotating assemblies, ignition upgrades, higher-performance injectors, and many other parts are provided. But, this book doesn't just discuss performance; it shows you how to do it with comprehensive, step-by-step product installs for a cat-back exhaust system, hand-held ignition tuner, cold-air intake, and supercharger. If you have been searching for the best performance package to make your Charger, Challenger, or full-size Chrysler car stand out from the crowd, you need this book. It has the latest information, so you can learn how to install all the products and get your car back out on the road.… (plus d'informations)

I gave this book to my brother who is obsessed with Challengers and Chargers. He has a Challenger at the moment. He said it was a very good book with info about the cars and says anyone who is into these cars should get this book. ( )

Two great cars and both terrific examples of American Muscle cars at the top of the game. CarTech has done a great job presenting these cars with beautiful illustrations, excellent instructions for engine, suspension, brake and chassis modification in detail and rounded it out with some interesting history. A must have book for enthusiasts and builders alike. Highly recommended. ( )

As with other SA Design Performance How-To books, it is a unique combination of history, product overview and how-to.

For me growing up, nothing said or sounded like a muscle car more than the Dodge Challenger. Like many others, I was excited when Dodge brought back a American Muscle car in 2006, and fell in love with the Dodge Challenger (though my family is better suited to fit into the Dodge Charger). Growing up, I knew that having a muscle car was cool, but having a muscle car with MORE muscle was even cooler.

As the former editor of Mopar Muscle magazine, Randy Bolig is an expert on Dodge muscle cars. In this book, Randy helps the reader/Dodge muscle car owner through confusing arena of “bolt-on accessories for your Charger, Challenger, 200 and Magnum” and provides “an in-depth look into what you can do to modify, upgrade and improve every aspect of your car’s performance.” That is a mighty big task, but Randy Bolig definitely up to the task.

The book is broken down in to six chapters:
Chapter 1: a brief description of each of the 5 car’s history
Chapter 2: Basic Engine Identification
Chapter 3: Bolt-On Performance (This includes the most popular system in each category (i.e. Headers, Nitrous Oxide, and Throttle body)
Chapter 4: Modifying Your Engine
Chapter 5: custom-Built Engine Packages
Chapter 6: suspension, Brakes and Chassis

Throughout the book, Randy draws linkages between the mods to allow the reader to understand the impacts of various mods and aftermarket bolt-ons on other parts of the car. For example, if you’re putting Nitrous Oxide on your car, you’ll need change your sparkplugs.

The book is very well illustrated. The pictures are sharp and well captioned. Throughout the book are step by step, with photographs, instructions on how to do vehicle mods.

Describing how modify your car is great, but how do you find all the parts? Randy Bolig takes care of that by providing a two pages source guide. The source guide includes the company, telephone company and website.

Bottomline: Great book! ! !

I received a free copy of this book through the librarything giveaway program. ( )
