"In these vivid poems, blueberries are flavor-filled fireworks, cucumbers are a fleet of green submarines in a wicker sea, lettuce tastes like butter and pepper and salt, but sometimes I crunch into a leaf the very same flavor as rain. The unexpected, ingenious imagery and enticing artwork in this collection will inspire the imaginations of young readers, and show how poetry can be as fresh and delicious as the farmers market produce it celebrates."--Provided by publisher.… (plus d'informations)

Fresh Delicious is an excellent poetry book to introduce vegetables and fruits to children. It described each fruit and vegetable in a fun way that kids can imagine shapes, colors, and even texture. In some poems, you can even imagine how that fruit or vegetable tastes. The pictures were bright, bold, and fun. It makes you want to eat a fruit or vegetable by the time you're done reading. The writing isn't overly complicated. However, it does make you think and piece the words together, almost like a puzzle, which again is ingenious. ( )

I loved this book! I think that this is a great book to read to children if they are learning about poems and about fruits and veggies. This book did an amazing job at describing each fruit and veggie, but in poem form. I loved how bright and colorful the illustrations were on each page and I think that makes a huge difference to children when grabbing their attention and keeping them engaged in the book. I think this book also makes grocery shopping for these items more interesting and now when children go shopping with their parents they might reflect back to this book. Another thing I loved about this book was that the author used animals as the characters in the book instead of people. I think this is another way to catch children’s’ attention and makes them engaged more in the book. This book is perfect to read in class and at home. The back of the book has different types of recipes that you could make using the different kinds of fruits and veggies in the book. I think authors use language for effect for a few different reasons. One reason being that it helps the reader to stir up their feelings towards the book, and what it was about. ( )

This book holds poems about a farmers market and all the fruits and vegetable you will see at a farmer market. I think this is a cute book to teach kids about their fruits and vegetables because their are poems that focus strictly on one at a time. I would suggest this book to other teachers because it holds different types of poems and they are short and catchy. I love this book and I would have it in my classroom library. ( )

Fresh Delicious is a creative book that uses poetry in order to help readers think of grocery shopping in a different way. I really appreciated this book because grocery shopping can be so boring, and this book can help to make it more interesting. I enjoyed that this book leads to creative thinking and imagination. ( )
